Job Overview: The Senior Movement Operations Associate plays a crucial role in overseeing and supervising movement operations activities that are directly related to beneficiaries. This position is integral to ensuring that the movement of migrants and refugees is conducted in a safe, efficient, and dignified manner. The associate will work under the general supervision of the Head of Programmes and the direct supervision of the Project Officer. The role involves managing a team responsible for beneficiary-facing activities, ensuring compliance with standard operating procedures, and maintaining high-quality service delivery. The associate will also coordinate transportation logistics, oversee the provision of essential items to beneficiaries, and ensure that individuals with special needs receive appropriate support. This position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work under pressure while maintaining a focus on the well-being of migrants and refugees.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Senior Movement Operations Associate will be responsible for a wide range of duties including: supervising a team of staff engaged in beneficiary-facing activities, ensuring compliance with standard operating procedures; overseeing field support activities related to movement operations; coordinating transportation logistics for beneficiaries; ensuring the timely provision of food and essential items; monitoring cases with special needs; overseeing pre-departure formalities; providing selection mission support; liaising with external partners; maintaining confidentiality and integrity of paperwork; and upholding IOM's standards of conduct. The associate will also be expected to undertake duty travel as required and provide regular feedback to supervisors regarding operational issues and achievements.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a high school diploma with six years of relevant experience or a bachelor's degree in Social Science, International Relations, Regional Studies, or a related field from an accredited institution with four years of relevant professional experience. The position requires a strong understanding of movement operations, particularly in resettlement programs, and proficiency in IOM-RMM proprietary tools and systems. Candidates should have experience in supervising teams and handling sensitive information.
Educational Background: The educational requirements for this position include a high school diploma with significant relevant experience or a bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Social Science, International Relations, or Regional Studies. The educational background should be from an accredited academic institution, ensuring that candidates have a solid foundation in the principles of international migration and humanitarian assistance.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of four years of relevant professional experience if they hold a bachelor's degree, or six years if they possess only a high school diploma. Experience in programs that include a movement operations component, particularly in resettlement programs, is essential. Demonstrated proficiency in IOM-RMM tools and systems, as well as experience in supervising a team, is also required.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, and knowledge of Spanish is highly desirable. Additional languages may be considered an asset, particularly those relevant to the populations served by IOM.
Additional Notes: This position is full-time and may require international travel. The Senior Movement Operations Associate will be expected to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
