Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Specialist include:
Developing and implementing mental health and psychosocial support programs tailored to the needs of children and adolescents in conflict-affected areas.
Conducting assessments to identify gaps in mental health services and developing strategies to address these gaps.
Collaborating with government agencies, NGOs, and healthcare providers to enhance service delivery and ensure a coordinated response to mental health needs.
Managing project timelines, budgets, and stakeholder communications effectively.
Collecting and analyzing quantitative and qualitative data to evaluate program effectiveness and inform future interventions.
Preparing reports and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Building partnerships with local communities and stakeholders to foster a supportive environment for mental health initiatives.
Adapting existing tools and resources to fit the local context and translating materials as necessary.
Ensuring compliance with UNICEF's core values and ethical standards in all aspects of work.
Required Qualifications: To qualify for this position, candidates must possess the following qualifications:
A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in research, evaluation, and qualitative assessment or survey related to mental health.
Strong knowledge of data analysis, guidelines, and best practices relevant to Child and Adolescent Mental Health.
Proven ability to manage projects independently, including timelines, budgets, and stakeholder communication.
Experience collaborating with government agencies, NGOs, and healthcare providers in the mental health sector, with prior experience working with the UN being advantageous.
Proficiency in quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis, with the ability to interpret data and identify trends.
Educational Background: Candidates must have a Master's degree in public health, Environmental Health, social/medical science, or any relevant field. This educational background is essential to ensure that the candidate has the necessary theoretical knowledge and practical skills to address the complex mental health needs of children and adolescents in vulnerable communities.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 5 years of professional experience in research, evaluation, and qualitative assessment or survey, particularly in the field of mental health. Candidates should have a proven track record of managing projects and collaborating with various stakeholders in the mental health and social service sectors.
Languages: Fluency in English and Khmer is mandatory, with excellent written and verbal communication skills. Candidates should be able to write reports, develop guidelines, and present research findings effectively in various formats, including reports, slide decks, and infographics.
