Job Overview: This internship is designed to provide a comprehensive experience in the Sales and Marketing Section of the Outreach Division within the Department of Global Communications at the United Nations. The primary focus of this role is to assist in the development and implementation of marketing strategies that promote United Nations Publications. Interns will engage in various activities aimed at enhancing the visibility and accessibility of UN knowledge and resources. The internship is full-time and unpaid, lasting between three to six months, and requires a commitment of up to five days a week, totaling 35 hours. Interns will work closely under the supervision of the Marketing Officer, gaining hands-on experience in marketing, event organization, content creation, and database management. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about the United Nations' mission and eager to contribute to its outreach efforts.
Duties and Responsibilities: Interns will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: assisting in the planning and execution of marketing campaigns across multiple channels; providing logistical support for public events organized by the UN Bookshop; drafting, formatting, editing, and posting content for the UN's website and social media platforms; maintaining databases and compiling reports; conducting research on relevant thematic issues; assisting in the development and implementation of surveys; and providing general office support, which includes processing and drafting correspondence, organizing files and records, and coordinating meetings. These responsibilities will allow interns to develop a well-rounded skill set in marketing and communications within a global context.
Required Qualifications: To qualify for this internship, applicants must meet one of the following criteria: be enrolled in a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher), be in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor's level or equivalent), or have graduated with a university degree (minimum bachelor's level or equivalent). Additionally, candidates must demonstrate proficiency in standard software applications, possess a strong interest in the work of the United Nations, and show a commitment to the ideals of the UN Charter. The ability to interact effectively with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds is also essential, as is a willingness to understand and respect differing opinions and beliefs.
Educational Background: Candidates should be pursuing or have completed a degree in a relevant field such as communications, marketing, international relations, or a related discipline. The internship is designed for individuals who are either currently enrolled in a graduate program or have recently graduated, ensuring that interns have a solid academic foundation to support their work at the United Nations.
Experience: No prior work experience is required to apply for this internship.
