Job Overview: The Driver position is crucial for the UN Nigeria's operations, as it involves providing reliable and safe driving services to UN agencies and high-ranking officials. The Driver will be responsible for transporting authorized personnel, delivering documents, and assisting with logistical needs. This position also entails performing minor administrative tasks and maintaining the vehicle in optimal condition. The Driver must represent the UN in a professional manner, contributing positively to the organization's image and fostering a client-oriented approach. The role supports the effective delivery of programs and operational activities, ensuring timely transport and logistical assistance.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Driver's primary responsibilities include:
Providing reliable and secure driving services for the transport of authorized personnel and the delivery and collection of mail and documents.
Meeting official personnel and visitors at the airport and assisting with visa and customs formalities as required.
Maintaining accurate daily vehicle logs and contributing to the preparation of vehicle maintenance plans and reports.
Ensuring day-to-day maintenance of assigned vehicles, including timely minor repairs, arranging for major repairs, and performing regular checks on oil, tires, brakes, and cleanliness.
Ensuring the availability of all required documents and supplies, such as vehicle insurance, logs, office directories, maps, first aid kits, and necessary spare parts.
Taking immediate actions required by rules and regulations in case of accidents.
Demonstrating a client-oriented approach and maintaining a courteous and professional demeanor at all times.
Required Qualifications: The ideal candidate must possess the following qualifications:
Secondary education is required.
A valid driver's license is mandatory.
A safe driving record is essential, demonstrating a commitment to road safety.
Knowledge of driving rules and regulations is necessary, along with skills in minor vehicle repair.
The candidate should exhibit a high sense of responsibility and integrity in all driving-related tasks.
Educational Background: Candidates must have completed secondary education, which provides a foundational understanding of basic education principles. A valid driver's license is also a critical requirement, ensuring that the candidate is legally permitted to operate a vehicle in Nigeria.
Experience: Candidates should have at least 2 years of work experience as a driver, demonstrating a solid understanding of safe driving practices and regulations. Experience in a similar role within an organization, particularly in a UN or international context, is highly desirable. A proven track record of maintaining a safe driving record is essential, along with familiarity with minor vehicle repairs and maintenance.
