Job Overview: The Senior Bilingual Resettlement Officer is responsible for leading the delivery of culturally and linguistically appropriate support to refugee households resettling in Hampshire under various UK Government Resettlement Programs, including the Afghan Resettlement Programme and the United Kingdom Resettlement Scheme. This role emphasizes the supervision and support of Resettlement Officers, ensuring effective casework delivery and adherence to safeguarding protocols. The Senior Officer will guide complex cases, contribute to staff development through mentoring and training, and coordinate multi-agency services to facilitate timely access to essential services such as housing, healthcare, and education. Support will be provided in both English and Dari/Pashto, utilizing home visits, remote assistance, and group sessions. The position also involves attending strategic meetings with local authorities and collaborating with delivery partners to enhance service delivery.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Senior Bilingual Resettlement Officer will have a diverse set of responsibilities, including:
Supervising and mentoring Resettlement Officers, setting clear expectations, performance objectives, and providing regular feedback.
Training Resettlement Officers on project activities and supporting them in their work with refugee households.
Assisting Resettlement Officers with complex cases, ensuring timely access to necessary services.
Reviewing caseloads to ensure equitable distribution and addressing emerging support needs.
Welcoming newly arrived individuals and providing initial support, including risk assessments and home safety orientations.
Researching and identifying services that help clients achieve their goals and facilitating referrals.
Representing the IRC in meetings with local authorities and contributing to strategic discussions.
Collaborating with partners to ensure coordinated support for households and participating in joint planning and case discussions.
Ensuring compliance with reporting requirements and maintaining accurate records. 1
Attending multi-agency coordination meetings and contributing to service development.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a strong knowledge of UK statutory services, including housing, welfare, healthcare, and education, as well as safeguarding frameworks. They should demonstrate strong organizational and administrative skills, including accurate record-keeping and reporting. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Dari/Pashto are essential, along with strong interpersonal skills for building relationships with various stakeholders. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with online meeting platforms are required.
