Job Overview: The National UN Volunteer - Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) Coordinator will play a crucial role in supporting UNFPA operations in the Northeast, East, and South of Ukraine. This position involves enhancing the assessment of sexual and reproductive health needs of populations near the frontline to ensure an adequate programmatic response. The incumbent will report directly to the SRH Expert and will be responsible for coordinating the SRH Technical Working Group (SRHTWG) at the subnational level, engaging various agencies providing SRH services to reach vulnerable populations. The role aims to address immediate service gaps while strengthening long-term recovery and health system resilience through advocacy, coordination, program monitoring, technical support, and capacity building. The position requires collaboration with local health authorities and humanitarian actors to develop lifesaving strategies and ensure effective implementation of SRH services.
Duties and Responsibilities: The major duties and responsibilities of the National UN Volunteer - SRH Coordinator include:
Advocacy and Coordination: Collaborate with Ukrainian government counterparts and the Health Cluster to develop strategies on SRHR, coordinate with emergency coordinators in various regions, and ensure SRH-GBV integration in humanitarian responses.
Lead the SRH Working Group in the field, mapping and verifying the quality of locally available SRH services, ensuring access and cross-referral to comprehensive SRHR services.
Prepare periodic reports and updates on the SRH working group for inclusion in various reports and meetings.
Capacity Building: Promote knowledge of SRH-related principles and coordinate SRH training delivery.
Monitoring and Evaluation: Work with local partners to support data entry, conduct rapid assessments, monitor SRH service provision, and document findings and best practices.
Community Awareness: Develop communication strategies for affected populations regarding SRH services and identify gaps in designated regions.
Serve as a back-up for the SRH TWG Coordinator and perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Required Qualifications: The position requires a strong understanding of sexual and reproductive health issues, particularly in humanitarian contexts. Candidates should possess excellent communication and collaboration skills, analytical thinking, and a commitment to integrity and respect for diversity. Experience in advocacy, coordination, and capacity building in health-related fields is essential. Familiarity with the Minimum Initial Service Package (MISP) for SRH in emergencies is highly desirable.
Educational Background: Candidates should have a degree in public health, social sciences, or a related field. Advanced degrees or specialized training in sexual and reproductive health, gender studies, or humanitarian response will be an advantage.
Experience: The ideal candidate should have at least 2-3 years of relevant experience in sexual and reproductive health, particularly in humanitarian settings. Experience working with government agencies, NGOs, and international organizations is preferred. Proven ability to coordinate multi-stakeholder initiatives and manage complex projects is essential.
Languages: Fluency in English and Ukrainian is mandatory. Knowledge of Russian is an asset.
Additional Notes: This is a full-time national UN volunteer position. The contract duration is subject to funding availability and satisfactory performance, with no expectation of renewal. The volunteer will receive a monthly living allowance of USD 2076, a one-time entry lump sum of USD 400, and medical and life insurance coverage. Leave entitlements include annual leave, learning leave, certified sick leave, and uncertified sick leave.
