Job Description
Job Posting Organization:
The Division of Nuclear Fuel Cycle and Waste Technology (NEFW) is a specialized division that focuses on supporting Member States in enhancing their capabilities in various aspects of nuclear technology. Established to facilitate the safe and effective management of nuclear fuel cycles, waste management, and environmental remediation, NEFW operates through several sections, including the Nuclear Fuel Cycle and Materials Section, Waste Technology Section, Decommissioning & Environmental Remediation Section, and Research Reactor Section. The organization aims to promote the sharing of good practices and the development of sustainable approaches in nuclear technology across its member states.

Job Overview:
The consultant will provide essential technical expertise to the Nuclear Fuel Cycle and Materials Section (NFCMS) in the preparation and implementation of significant international conferences related to nuclear technology. This includes the International Conference on Fast Reactors and Related Fuel Cycles scheduled for May 2026 in Beijing, and the International Conference on Fuel Supply Chain for Sustainable Nuclear Power Development planned for October 2026 in Vienna. The consultant will be responsible for various tasks, including compiling peer-reviewed abstracts, preparing analyses for acceptance decisions, liaising with authors, and ensuring the timely publication of conference proceedings. The role requires a proactive approach to managing conference logistics and contributing to the development of educational materials such as e-learning modules and infographics.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant's duties will encompass a wide range of responsibilities aimed at ensuring the successful execution of the conferences. Key responsibilities include compiling peer-reviewed abstracts and extended abstracts, preparing quality analyses for acceptance decisions, liaising with authors to monitor final submissions, tracking the formatting and editing of submissions, and maintaining up-to-date content on the conference websites. Additionally, the consultant will gather session summaries, introductory and closing statements, and main conclusions from the conferences. Concrete deliverables include building the INDICO structure for the conferences, updating dashboards for submitted abstracts, informing participants of submission outcomes, finalizing scientific programs, and completing conference proceedings for submission to the NE DCT.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in nuclear science, International Relations, or a related field. A Master's degree is considered an advantage. Relevant professional experience in the nuclear field is essential, along with knowledge of nuclear science and engineering, nuclear fuel cycles, and spent fuel management. Strong social media management skills, experience in organizing technical events and conferences, and proficiency in compiling technical reports and documents are also required. Candidates should have good communication skills and be fluent in English.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Bachelor's degree in nuclear science or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred, indicating a higher level of expertise and understanding of the complexities involved in nuclear technology and international relations.

Experience:
The position requires relevant professional experience in the nuclear sector, particularly in areas related to nuclear science and engineering, nuclear fuel cycles, and spent fuel management. Experience in organizing technical events and conferences, as well as compiling technical reports, is crucial for success in this role. Additional Notes:
The consultancy offers a daily fee of up to €150, commensurate with qualifications and experience. If travel is required for the assignment, a daily subsistence allowance (DSA) and travel costs will be covered.
