Job Overview: The Principal Quality Engineer for Data & Analytics will be responsible for leading the quality engineering strategy and execution across next-generation data platforms. This role involves embedding quality at the core of Microsoft Fabric, Azure Integration Services, IDMC, and Tibco EBX. The engineer will implement automated data validation, lineage checks, and regression testing directly into CI/CD pipelines, ensuring that every data pipeline is robust, reliable, and scalable. The position requires a deep understanding of advanced automation, AI/ML-driven assurance, and quality engineering practices to accelerate delivery without compromising control. The engineer will work closely with various technologies including T-SQL, Python, and Azure Data Factory, and will be expected to apply frameworks like NIST CSF, DORA, and ITIL v4 to enhance the quality of enterprise analytics.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Principal Quality Engineer will integrate Agile and DevOps principles across data integration pipelines, ensuring alignment with ITIL v4 and DataOps for quality-centric operational delivery. Responsibilities include embedding data quality checks and lineage validation into CI/CD workflows, implementing regression testing and data comparison strategies across multi-environment ADF pipelines, and applying resilience and failover validation scenarios to critical dataflows. The engineer will also be responsible for pressure-testing resilience with failover scenarios, validating mission-critical dataflows, and ensuring business continuity through alert responsiveness. The role requires a proactive approach to quality assurance, with a focus on continuous improvement and innovation in testing methodologies.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must hold an ISTQB Advanced Test Manager certification or an equivalent recognized certification in test management. A qualification in IT Service Management, such as ITIL v3 or v4 Foundation, is also required. Familiarity with the NIST cybersecurity framework and the EU Digital Operational Resilience Act is essential. The ideal candidate will demonstrate comprehensive QA leadership across advanced automation and performance testing, with experience in Quality Engineering management within an agile, product-focused IT department, preferably in a financial institution. Additionally, candidates should have experience with advanced AI/ML approaches for improving quality efficiency and effectiveness.
Educational Background: A strong educational background in computer science, information technology, or a related field is required. Candidates should have a solid understanding of data analytics platforms and experience with modern data engineering practices. Relevant certifications in quality assurance and data management will be considered an asset.
Experience: The position requires extensive experience in testing data platform configuration and setup, as well as data feeds and outputs from modern Data Analytics platforms. Candidates should have a proven track record in testing and validation of code, with strong skills in T-SQL, Python, and Azure Data Factory. Experience in testing Data Platforms and Data Engineering solutions on Microsoft Intelligent Data Platform is essential, along with familiarity with Agile delivery methodologies, ideally using Azure DevOps.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, as it is the primary language of communication within the organization. Knowledge of additional languages relevant to the regions served by EBRD would be considered an advantage, enhancing the candidate's ability to engage with diverse stakeholders.
Additional Notes: This position is a fixed-term contract lasting 3 years. The role is full-time and offers hybrid working arrangements, with a minimum expectation of in-person collaboration three days a week.
