Job Overview: The Country Manager plays a crucial role in implementing the mandate of Humanity & Inclusion within Burkina Faso. Reporting to the Regional Director for West Africa, the Country Manager is responsible for representing the organization in the country and leading fundraising efforts. This position requires optimizing the quality and impact of projects implemented in the country through appropriate control mechanisms. The Country Manager also shares the responsibility for the healthy management and proper functioning of the overall organization. The role involves embodying the values of HI, translating strategic objectives into operational goals for the team, and fostering an environment that encourages innovation and risk-taking. The Country Manager must ensure that the operational management of the team is organized effectively, and that performance is monitored and problems are resolved efficiently.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Management: Exemplifies HI's values daily and serves as a role model. Understands and communicates the strategy, translating it into operational objectives for the team. Encourages practice exchanges and innovation while managing operational processes and team performance. Acts as the functional manager for support teams, ensuring the development of team members and adherence to institutional policies.
Strategy and Steering: Contributes to the development and implementation of the operational strategy in the country, ensuring annual follow-up. Engages in organizational transformation through improved managerial practices and continuous improvement of work processes.
Standards and Expertise: Ensures compliance with global frameworks, institutional policies, and HI standards.
Operational Implementation: Acts as the legal representative of HI in the country, promoting a positive image and reputation. Develops HI's external influence through forums, strategic alliances, and media representation. Monitors project management and ensures necessary resources are available.
Emergency Preparedness and Response: Leads emergency preparedness actions and reorganizes team priorities during emergencies to ensure a rapid and effective response.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must have at least 7 years of professional experience, including a minimum of 2 years in a country management role or project coordination in an international NGO. Strong managerial skills in an intercultural context are essential, along with organizational and structuring capabilities. Candidates should be comfortable making decisions and proposing solutions in all circumstances, demonstrating seriousness and professionalism. Proven experience in representation and fundraising is also required.
Educational Background: A relevant educational background is expected, typically including a degree in international relations, humanitarian studies, management, or a related field. Advanced degrees may be preferred depending on the specific requirements of the role.
Experience: Candidates should possess a minimum of 7 years of professional experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership role within an international NGO, specifically in humanitarian or development project coordination. Experience in managing diverse teams and working in complex environments is crucial.
Languages: Fluency in French is mandatory, given the location of the position. Proficiency in English is highly desirable and would be considered an asset, as it may facilitate communication with international stakeholders and partners.

The contract includes comprehensive social coverage tailored to individual needs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and repatriation coverage. The salary starts at €2,986 gross per month, with additional benefits such as a net monthly per diem of €557 and a hardship allowance of €25
Employees are entitled to 25 days of paid leave per year and a rest and recuperation (R&R) period of 5 days every 3 months. The position is non-accompanied, but provisions are made for couples and families under certain conditions, including child allowances and educational support for children over 3 years old.
