Job Overview: The internship program at the IAEA is designed to provide students and recent graduates with practical work experience that aligns with their academic studies or interests. Interns will have the opportunity to engage with the work of the IAEA and the broader United Nations system. The primary focus of this internship is on social media content production, where the intern will gain hands-on experience in creating and managing content for the IAEA's social media platforms. This role is crucial for enhancing the visibility of the IAEA's mission and activities, as well as fostering public understanding of nuclear science and technology. Interns will work closely with the Office of Public Information and Communication (OPIC) and will be involved in various aspects of social media management, including drafting posts, creating multimedia content, and analyzing campaign performance.
Duties and Responsibilities: The intern will be responsible for drafting engaging posts and creating galleries for the IAEA's social media channels. They will support the social media team by analyzing performance metrics, scheduling content, and monitoring the effectiveness of campaigns. Additionally, the intern will create graphic design assets using tools like Canva, produce multimedia content such as reels, and stay updated on the latest social media trends to ensure content remains fresh and relevant. The intern will also utilize Trello Boards to plan and curate daily social media content, maintain weekly calendars, and collaborate with various departments to gather information for posts. Other support tasks may be assigned as needed to assist the section in achieving its communication objectives.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a university degree or be in the process of completing studies in communication, journalism, or a related field. Experience in managing social media channels and producing content is essential. Familiarity with the technical aspects of communication production, such as video or photo editing, and experience using Content Management Systems (CMS) for content uploads are desired. Proficiency in design software like Adobe or Canva is also beneficial. Candidates should demonstrate strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Educational Background: Candidates must be at least 20 years old and have completed a minimum of three years of full-time studies at a university or equivalent institution towards a first degree. They may apply up to one year after completing a bachelor's, master's, or doctorate degree. Previous participation in the IAEA's internship program is not permitted for applicants.
Experience: The position requires candidates to have relevant experience in managing social media channels and producing content. While specific years of experience are not mandated, familiarity with the technical aspects of communication production, such as video editing or using design software, is preferred. This experience can be gained through academic projects, internships, or previous employment in related fields.
Languages: Good written and spoken English is essential for this position. Fluency in any other IAEA official language, such as Arabic, Chinese, French, Spanish, or Russian, is considered an asset and will enhance the candidate's application.
