Job Overview:
The Digital Communications and Content Development Associate (English) will play a vital role in enhancing the communication and media capacity of the Bangladesh Election Commission (BEC) as part of the BALLOT project. This position is crucial in ensuring the timely, accurate, and inclusive dissemination of election-related information in English, which is essential for fostering public confidence in the electoral process. The associate will work under the direct supervision of the Chief Technical Advisor (CTA) of the BALLOT project and will collaborate closely with the BEC to develop content for various communication platforms. The role involves creating engaging content for social media, drafting press releases, and coordinating with media outlets to ensure comprehensive coverage of election-related events. The associate will also be responsible for translating Bangla content into English, preparing key messages for BEC officials, and documenting success stories for broader dissemination. This position is integral to supporting transparent and citizen-oriented communication that aligns with democratic values and human rights principles.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Digital Communications and Content Development Associate (English) will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including:
  • Developing English content for BEC’s social media platforms such as Facebook, X/Twitter, YouTube, and Instagram, ensuring consistency with the BEC’s communication strategy.
  • Supporting the creation of communication materials for both digital and traditional media, ensuring quality, consistency, and accessibility.
  • Drafting, editing, and proofreading press releases, feature articles, newsletters, and other official communications in English.
  • Coordinating with national and international media outlets to facilitate coverage of election-related events.
  • Translating and adapting Bangla-language content and official statements into clear, accurate English for publication and dissemination.
  • Assisting in preparing key messages, talking points, and media briefs for senior BEC officials.
  • Collaborating with BALLOT’s communication and reporting teams to ensure alignment with UNDP branding and visibility standards.
  • Documenting success stories, lessons learned, and human-interest features for dissemination through UNDP and BEC channels.
  • Performing any other duties related to the assignment as requested by the direct supervisor.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates for the Digital Communications and Content Development Associate (English) position should possess strong qualifications, including:
  • Proven experience in digital communications, content development, or public relations.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills in English, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and digital communication strategies.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
  • Experience working in a multicultural environment and understanding of the political and social context of Bangladesh.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders.

Educational Background:
A bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations, or a related field is required for this position. Advanced degrees or certifications in relevant areas will be considered an asset.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of 2-3 years of relevant experience in digital communications, content development, or public relations. Experience working with governmental or non-governmental organizations, particularly in the context of elections or democratic governance, is highly desirable.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, as the position requires the development of content and communication materials in English. Proficiency in Bangla is an advantage, as it will facilitate the translation and adaptation of content for broader audiences.

This position is a UN Volunteer role, and the contract duration is typically for the length of the project, which is three years. The role is full-time and based in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
