Job Overview: The position of Knowledge content and events consultant (National) is designed to provide essential technical support to the project team working on 'Advancing carbon market readiness in Mongolia.' This role is crucial for facilitating the development and implementation of strategies that enhance Mongolia's capacity to engage in carbon markets. The consultant will be expected to contribute to the creation of knowledge content that supports the project objectives, ensuring that the information is relevant, accurate, and accessible to stakeholders. The consultant will also be responsible for organizing events that promote knowledge sharing and collaboration among various stakeholders involved in carbon market readiness. This position requires a deep understanding of carbon markets, environmental policies, and the specific challenges faced by Mongolia in this context. The consultant will work closely with the project team and other partners to ensure that the project goals are met effectively and efficiently.
Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant will have a comprehensive set of duties and responsibilities, including but not limited to:
Developing and curating knowledge content related to carbon markets, ensuring it is tailored to the needs of the project and its stakeholders.
Organizing and facilitating workshops, seminars, and other events that promote knowledge sharing and capacity building among stakeholders.
Collaborating with project team members to identify knowledge gaps and develop strategies to address them.
Engaging with local and international experts to gather insights and best practices related to carbon market readiness.
Preparing reports and documentation that summarize findings, recommendations, and progress related to the project.
Providing technical assistance and guidance to stakeholders involved in the project.
Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of knowledge dissemination activities and making recommendations for improvement.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a strong background in environmental science, climate change, or a related field. A proven track record of developing knowledge content and organizing events is essential. Additionally, candidates should have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders. Familiarity with carbon markets and environmental policies in Mongolia is highly desirable. Strong analytical skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team are also required.
Educational Background: A minimum of a bachelor's degree in environmental science, climate change, public policy, or a related field is required. A master's degree in a relevant discipline is preferred and may be considered an asset for candidates applying for this position.
Experience: Candidates should have at least 3-5 years of relevant experience in environmental consulting, project management, or a related field. Experience working with international organizations, particularly in the context of climate change and carbon markets, is highly advantageous. Proven experience in organizing events and workshops is also essential.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, both written and spoken. Proficiency in Mongolian is highly desirable, as it will facilitate communication with local stakeholders and enhance the effectiveness of the consultant's work. Knowledge of additional languages may be considered an asset.
Additional Notes: The contract duration for this position is set for 74 working days over a period of 6 months. This is a national consultant role, meaning that it is intended for candidates who are citizens or residents of Mongolia. The position is part-time, and the consultant will be expected to manage their time effectively to meet project deadlines. Compensation details will be provided during the negotiation phase, and benefits may include opportunities for professional development and networking within the UNDP framework.
