SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL (SI) is an international humanitarian aid association that has been operational for over 40 years. The organization focuses on providing assistance to populations affected by armed conflicts and natural disasters, addressing their basic needs for food, water, and shelter. SI is particularly dedicated to combating diseases linked to unsafe water, which is a leading cause of death globally. Job Overview:
The Grants Manager will be a key member of the coordination-team" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">coordination team, reporting directly to the Grants and Partnerships Coordinator. This role is crucial for ensuring accountability to donors and effective management of grants throughout the project cycle. The Grants Manager will collaborate closely with program and support teams at both the coordination and base levels. The position involves strategic contributions to the mission's development, proactive identification of funding opportunities, and oversight of high-quality proposal and report submissions. The Grants Manager is responsible for ensuring compliance with donor procedures, building staff capacity regarding donor compliance and accountability, and maintaining rigorous follow-up on contractual obligations from contracting to closure. Additionally, the Grants Manager will oversee a Reporting and Communication Officer, ensuring that all reporting and communication tasks are executed effectively.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Grants Manager will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including but not limited to:
  • Ensuring accountability to donors by managing the grants process effectively throughout the project cycle.
  • Collaborating with program and support teams to develop high-quality proposals and reports that meet donor requirements.
  • Proactively identifying funding opportunities and contributing to the strategic development of the mission.
  • Training and supervising the Reporting and Communication Officer in their daily tasks and reporting deadlines.
  • Ensuring compliance with donor guidelines and maintaining rigorous follow-up on all contractual obligations.
  • Aligning various teams and stakeholders to ensure consistency in proposal development and managing diverse inputs to create cohesive project documents.
  • Addressing challenges related to meticulous attention to detail and adherence to donor guidelines and deadlines.
  • Supporting the Grants and Partnerships Coordinator in developing proposals and responding to donor feedback during the initial months of the role.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a degree in political science, humanitarian action, development, international relations, or law" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">international law. Additionally, a minimum of 2 years of experience in the humanitarian sector is required, with experience in a similar position considered an asset. The ideal candidate will have excellent writing skills and experience in crafting proposals and reports, along with a strong understanding of donor rules and regulations, particularly those of US, DG ECHO, CDCS, AFD, SDC, and UHF. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively represent SI at forums and with donors are essential. Candidates should also demonstrate oral and written communication skills, diplomacy, and the ability to work in a multicultural context.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a degree in political science, humanitarian action, development, international relations, or international law. This academic foundation is essential for understanding the complexities of humanitarian work and the legal frameworks that govern it.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 2 years of experience in the humanitarian sector, with specific experience in a similar role being advantageous. This experience should encompass a solid understanding of grants management and donor compliance, as well as the ability to navigate the challenges associated with humanitarian aid delivery.

Languages:
Professional fluency in spoken and written English is mandatory, along with proficiency in French. Knowledge of Ukrainian and/or Russian is considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's ability to communicate effectively in the operational context of Ukraine.

The position is a short-term contract with a duration of 6 months, starting on January 1, 202
  • The role is based in Kyiv, Ukraine, and involves a salaried position starting from EUR 2310 gross per month, which includes a base salary of EUR 2100 and a 10% annual leave allowance paid monthly. Additionally, a monthly Per Diem of EUR 700 is provided. SI covers accommodation costs and travel expenses between the expatriate's country of origin and the place of assignment. The organization implements a system of alternation between work and time off, allowing for 7 working days off every three months, along with a USD 850 break allowance. Expatriates benefit from a comprehensive insurance package covering healthcare expenses, including medical, surgical, dental, and repatriation costs, as well as essential vaccinations and antimalarial treatments. Living conditions in Kyiv are favorable, with access to parks, restaurants, and various amenities, although occasional power cuts may occur.
