Job Overview: The Operational Information Management and Performance Reporting (OIM/PR) Officer plays a crucial role in the World Food Programme's mission by leading and coordinating all OIM/PR activities. This position is essential for ensuring that high-quality information supports evidence-based decision-making and enhances donor confidence. The Officer will manage and develop OIM/PR systems and processes, collaborating with various units such as Programme, Field/Area Offices, Partnerships, Budget, and Supply Chain. The role requires a proactive approach to information management, ensuring that the OIM/PR team delivers consistent and reliable information that facilitates informed decision-making at all levels. The Officer will also be responsible for supervising the OIM/PR team, providing guidance, oversight, and quality assurance of deliverables, and acting as the focal point for OIM/PR within the Country Office.
Duties and Responsibilities: The key accountabilities for the OIM/PR Officer include leading and coordinating all OIM/PR activities, ensuring standard and consistent information for WFP operations. The Officer will supervise, coach, and mentor the OIM/PR team, providing guidance and quality assurance of deliverables. Responsibilities also include leading and coordinating external and internal reporting, overseeing the preparation of the Annual Country Report, and driving innovation in information management. The Officer will enhance the capacity of WFP staff and partners through training, collaborate with other UN agencies to ensure consistency in humanitarian information, and support the drafting and updating of the Country Strategic Plan. Additionally, the Officer will coordinate with the PMLE and VAM teams to support evidence generation for program-related decisions and document lessons learned for knowledge sharing.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess an advanced university degree in Political Science, Economics, Statistics, Public Health, Information Management, Journalism, Business Management, Social Sciences, or a related field. Alternatively, a first university degree with additional years of relevant work experience and/or training may be accepted. The position requires at least three years of relevant experience for candidates with an advanced degree or a minimum of five years of postgraduate professional experience for those with a first university degree. Experience in leading teams and managing information/reporting functions is highly desirable, along with strong analytical skills and proficiency in data visualization tools and digital technologies.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes an advanced university degree in relevant fields such as Political Science, Economics, Statistics, Public Health, Information Management, Journalism, Business Management, or Social Sciences. Candidates with a first university degree may also qualify if they have additional relevant work experience. Continuous professional development and training in related areas are encouraged to enhance the candidate's qualifications.
Experience: The OIM/PR Officer should have a minimum of three years of relevant experience if holding an advanced university degree, or five years of postgraduate professional experience if holding a first university degree. This experience should be in a relevant field of work, ideally with a background in international humanitarian development. Candidates should demonstrate experience in leading teams and managing information/reporting functions, showcasing their ability to handle complex information management tasks effectively.
Languages: Fluency in English (level C) and Somali is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset but is not required. The ability to communicate effectively in both languages is crucial for collaboration with diverse stakeholders and for the dissemination of information.
