Job Overview: The Supply Chain Officer position at WFP is designed to provide analytical support and contributions to supply chain activities, ensuring that field operations meet the food assistance needs of beneficiaries and service provision requirements for partners. The officer will be responsible for developing and executing supply chain plans and procedures, ensuring operational efficiency, reliability, and quality. This position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to analyze data to identify opportunities for improvement in supply chain operations. The officer will also play a crucial role in supporting emergency responses and ensuring that resources are deployed effectively during crises.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Supply Chain Officer will have a diverse set of responsibilities, including but not limited to: contributing to the development and implementation of supply chain plans and procedures; ensuring timely and cost-effective supply chain operations; preparing regular and ad hoc reports on warehouse operations; conducting analysis" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">financial analysis and budget reviews; performing market analysis and supply chain network mapping; supporting vendor assessments and selection processes; managing logistics vendors’ contracting activities; preparing complex reports and dashboards on supply chain activities; guiding support staff and acting as a point of referral; contributing to preparedness actions for emergency responses; and performing other duties as required. The officer will also monitor supply chain activities to ensure compliance with internal controls and contribute to the overall performance of supply chain operations.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess an advanced university degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Economics, Business Administration, Logistics, or a related field. Alternatively, a first university degree with two years of relevant work experience and/or training in supply chain management is acceptable. The role requires a minimum of one year of professional work experience in supply chain operations, with a strong emphasis on analytical and conceptual work related to supply chain strategy and implementation. Candidates should have experience in analyzing operational contexts, designing operational scenarios, and working with supply chain information systems. Experience in troubleshooting operational issues and coordinating service providers’ contract execution is also essential.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes an advanced university degree in a relevant field such as Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Economics, Business Administration, or Logistics. A first university degree combined with relevant work experience and training may also be considered. Candidates should have a solid understanding of supply chain principles and practices, as well as the ability to apply this knowledge in a practical setting.
Experience: The position requires candidates to have at least one year of relevant professional experience in supply chain operations. This includes experience in analyzing end-to-end supply chain processes, supporting analytical work on supply chain strategy, and collaborating with stakeholders to design operational plans. Candidates should also have experience in evaluating technical offers, writing proposals, and preparing reports. Languages: Fluency in English and Tetum is mandatory for this position, with a proficiency level of C. Knowledge of Portuguese is considered a plus and may enhance a candidate's application, particularly in a multicultural environment where multiple languages are spoken.
