The organization focuses on various aspects of migration, including humanitarian response, development, and policy advocacy, aiming to harness the potential of migration while ensuring the rights and dignity of migrants are upheld. The programme aims to provide interns with exposure to IOM's operations, particularly in the Shelter and Settlements (S&S) Unit, which is responsible for implementing shelter programming in 84 countries worldwide. Interns will support various projects, including the ECHO ReliefEU Stockpiles project, which focuses on enhancing emergency response capacities in Africa and the Caribbean. The role involves a mix of administrative support, project monitoring, and documentation, as well as opportunities for professional development through training and interaction with IOM staff.

Responsibilities include developing communication materials, assisting with project monitoring and documentation, conducting data analysis on procurement and goods movement, coordinating with teams in Nairobi and Barbados, planning training sessions, and supporting the wider Shelter & Settlements Unit with related activities. Interns may also be assigned additional duties as needed, providing a comprehensive learning experience in humanitarian response and recovery.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must demonstrate a strong interest in shelter and settlements within the context of humanitarian response. Language proficiency will be evaluated during the selection process, which may involve written and oral assessments to ensure candidates meet the necessary communication standards.
Additional Notes: The internship is subject to funding confirmation and will require medical certification for appointment. Interns may receive a small monthly stipend to help offset costs, but those receiving financial support from their university or other sponsors will not be eligible for this stipend.
