Job Overview: The Driver position is a critical role within the Ukraine Resident Office (RO) team based in Kyiv. The primary responsibility of the Driver is to ensure the safe and efficient transport of authorized personnel using official vehicles, including armored vehicles, for various official purposes. This role requires a strong understanding of local driving conditions and regulations, as well as the ability to navigate safely throughout Kyiv and the surrounding areas, and occasionally to other locations within Ukraine and neighboring countries. In addition to driving duties, the Driver will also provide clerical support as needed, which may include tasks such as delivering and collecting mail, answering phones, and maintaining accurate transport logs. The Driver must adhere to strict safety protocols and organizational guidelines to ensure the well-being of all passengers and the integrity of the vehicle.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Driver is responsible for the safe, punctual, and efficient transport of authorized personnel to and from various locations, including airports, transport hubs, meetings, and appointments. Key responsibilities include operating the official vehicle safely under all local conditions, adhering to the EBRD's Code of Conduct and Driver Rules of Conduct, and complying with local laws and speed limits. The Driver must ensure that all passengers wear seat belts and never drive under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Additionally, the Driver is responsible for maintaining the vehicle in a roadworthy condition, ensuring it is clean and equipped with necessary safety equipment such as a first aid kit and spare tire. The Driver must also keep accurate records of transport logs, fuel usage, and vehicle maintenance, and must maintain a professional appearance at all times. The role may require identifying alternative routes when necessary and conducting regular vehicle checks as directed.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a valid driving license and demonstrate capability in defensive driving. Professional driving experience with a proven safe driving record is essential. A thorough knowledge of local driving rules and regulations is required, along with familiarity with the city's roads and the broader road networks in Ukraine. Advanced Driving Training and/or an Armoured Vehicle Driving Training Certificate is preferable. Basic skills in minor vehicle repairs and maintenance are also required. Strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to teamwork are essential, as is the ability to communicate effectively in both English and Ukrainian, both verbally and in writing.
Educational Background: A secondary school education is required for this position. This educational background provides the foundational knowledge and skills necessary for the role, particularly in terms of communication and basic administrative tasks.
Experience: Candidates should have professional driving experience, ideally with a clean driving record that demonstrates their ability to operate vehicles safely and responsibly. Experience in a similar role, particularly in a professional or organizational context, is highly advantageous.
Languages: Proficiency in English and Ukrainian is mandatory for this position, as effective communication is crucial for the role. Additional language skills may be considered an asset but are not required.
Additional Notes: This position is a fixed-term contract lasting for 2 years. The EBRD promotes a flexible working environment, expecting employees to attend the office 50% of their working time.
