Job Overview:
The Research, Assessment and Monitoring (RAM) Officer position is crucial for advancing the Iraq Country Strategic Plan (CSP), which aims to transition from emergency aid to sustainable development and resilience building. The RAM Officer will lead evidence generation across various program areas, including food assistance, resilience, nutrition, school feeding, and social protection. This role requires the officer to ensure that operations are informed by high-quality, relevant data through assessments, surveys, and analysis. The RAM Officer will collaborate closely with program teams, field offices, and government partners to strengthen national data systems and promote evidence-based programming. The position is designed for individuals who are passionate about using data to inform strategic decisions and enhance accountability in humanitarian efforts.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The RAM Officer will be responsible for a wide range of duties, including but not limited to: designing and implementing assessments and thematic studies across WFP Iraq’s program portfolio; ensuring effective data collection, validation, and contextualized analysis; compiling and disseminating assessment results to inform program management and strategic decision-making; providing technical analytical support for Post-Distribution Monitoring (PDM) and baseline surveys; utilizing advanced statistical and geospatial tools to evaluate environmental degradation and socio-economic impacts; leading geospatial mapping and data visualization efforts; developing targeting methodologies for social protection programs; and strengthening national capacities by collaborating with government counterparts to build sustainable monitoring frameworks. The officer will also support the development of an integrated national monitoring system that enables real-time data collection and predictive analytics.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree in Economics, Food Security, Statistics, Data Science, Geography, or a related field. Alternatively, a first university degree with additional years of relevant work experience and/or training may be considered. The position requires a total of 5 years of relevant experience, including at least 1 year of professional supervisory experience. Relevant experience in designing assessments, statistical analysis, econometrics, or data management/visualization is essential, preferably within a UN agency or a recognized institution known for high-quality analytical work. Background or training in social services, food security, nutrition, or familiarity with WFP operations is considered an asset.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes an advanced university degree in a relevant field such as Economics, Food Security, Statistics, Data Science, Geography, or a related discipline. Candidates with a first university degree and additional relevant work experience or training will also be considered. This educational foundation is critical for understanding the complexities of food security and data analysis in a humanitarian context.

Experience:
The position requires a total of 5 years of relevant experience, which includes at least 1 year of professional supervisory experience. Candidates should have substantial experience in designing assessments and surveys, conducting statistical analysis, and managing or visualizing data. Experience within a UN agency or a recognized institution known for high-quality analytical work is preferred. Familiarity with social services, food security, and nutrition will be advantageous for candidates applying for this role.

Languages:
Fluency in English (Level C) is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in Arabic or Kurdish is considered an asset, as it will facilitate communication and collaboration with local stakeholders and enhance the effectiveness of the RAM Officer's work in the region.

Additional Notes:
The position is a Service Contract (Level 8) and is based in Baghdad, Iraq. The role is full-time and may require domestic travel as needed.
