Job Overview: The Area Manager position is crucial for the implementation of HI's mandate and the 10-year strategy within the country of operation. Reporting to the Program Director, the Area Manager is responsible for ensuring the quality and impact of projects implemented in the area. This role involves a delegation system with appropriate control mechanisms to maintain high standards. The Area Manager will contribute to the development and implementation of the program's operational strategy, ensuring that the projects align with the overall goals of HI. The position requires a proactive approach to managing both opportunities and risks, as well as fostering external influence and representation of the organization in the area.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Area Manager will have several key missions, including: 1) Management: Overseeing the management of teams and projects in the area. 2) Strategy and Steering: Contributing to the development of the program's operational strategy and ensuring its implementation and annual monitoring. 3) Standards and Expertise: Upholding the standards of HI's interventions and ensuring expertise in the field. 4) Operational Implementation: Managing and monitoring projects effectively, analyzing potential risks, and proposing mitigation measures. 5) Emergency Preparedness and Response: Ensuring that the organization is prepared for emergencies and can respond effectively. The Area Manager will also be responsible for developing HI's external influence and representing the organization at various forums and events.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must hold a degree in a relevant field such as humanitarian studies or social sciences. A minimum of three years of professional experience in area, field, or project management within challenging humanitarian contexts is required. Proven experience in managerial roles, security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security management, donor relations, external relations, fundraising, and strategic positioning is essential. Candidates should also have experience in designing and coordinating complex emergency interventions, along with strong management and communication skills. Fluency in English, both oral and written, is mandatory, and candidates should demonstrate strong organizational skills, autonomy, and responsiveness.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a degree in a field related to humanitarian work, such as humanitarian studies, social sciences, or a similar discipline. This educational foundation is crucial for understanding the complexities of humanitarian interventions and the needs of vulnerable populations.
Experience: The position requires at least three years of professional experience in area, field, or project management, particularly in challenging humanitarian contexts. Candidates should have a proven track record in managerial roles, security management, and experience with donor relations and fundraising. Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory for this position, both in oral and written communication. Additional Notes: The position is offered as a 12-month international contract starting from November 202
The contract includes social coverage adapted to the individual's situation, such as unemployment insurance benefits for EU nationals, a pension scheme, and medical coverage with a 50% employee contribution. The salary starts at 2869 € gross per month, depending on experience, with additional benefits including a net monthly per diem of 587 €, a hardship allowance of 500 € net per month, and 25 paid leave days per year. The position is unaccompanied, and travel costs for air tickets and visa, as well as the transport of personal effects, will be covered. For missions longer than 12 months, a child allowance of 100€ per month per child will be provided. Housing will be arranged individually by HI, and local packages will be offered for residents in the country.
