Job Overview:
The position is for an Individual Consultant tasked with the development of a flagship project focused on transboundary pollution, specifically aimed at addressing environmental issues that cross national borders. This role is designated for Thai nationals only, reflecting the need for local expertise in navigating the specific environmental and regulatory contexts of Thailand. The consultant will be expected to engage with various stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, and community groups, to develop strategies and solutions that align with the Sustainable Development Goals. The assignment is set to commence on November 1, 2025, and will last for a total of 100 working days, concluding on June 30, 202
  • The consultant will be responsible for conducting research, facilitating discussions, and drafting project proposals that address the complexities of transboundary pollution in the region.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant will be responsible for a range of duties including: conducting comprehensive assessments of transboundary pollution issues affecting Thailand; engaging with stakeholders to gather insights and data; developing project proposals that align with national and international environmental policies; facilitating workshops and meetings to discuss project objectives and gather feedback; preparing reports and documentation that outline project progress and outcomes; ensuring compliance with UNDP procurement and project management guidelines; and providing recommendations for policy improvements based on research findings. The consultant will also be expected to monitor project implementation and evaluate its impact on local communities and ecosystems.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a strong background in environmental science, public policy, or a related field. They should have proven experience in project management, particularly in the context of environmental issues. Familiarity with the Sustainable Development Goals and transboundary environmental regulations is essential. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong analytical skills, the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, and excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Additionally, candidates should have a track record of successfully managing similar projects and be able to provide references from previous engagements.

Educational Background:
A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in environmental science, public policy, international relations, or a related field is required. A master’s degree or higher in a relevant discipline is preferred and will be considered an asset. Candidates should also have completed relevant training or certifications in project management or environmental policy.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 5 years of professional experience in environmental project management or related fields. Experience working with international organizations, particularly in the context of the United Nations or similar entities, is highly desirable. Candidates should have a demonstrated ability to manage complex projects and work effectively in multi-stakeholder environments.

Languages:
Fluency in Thai is mandatory, as the position is restricted to Thai nationals. Proficiency in English is also required, as the consultant will need to communicate with international stakeholders and prepare documentation in English. Knowledge of additional languages relevant to the region may be considered an advantage.
