Job Overview:
The Driver position at WFP is crucial for ensuring the safe and efficient transportation of authorized personnel and commodities. The role involves not only driving but also providing basic assistance with local language translation, maintaining vehicle logs, and ensuring the vehicle is in good condition. The Driver will work under the direct supervision of the Administrative Associate and the overall supervision of the Head of Support Services. This position requires a commitment to safety and adherence to UN regulations, as well as the ability to perform basic office-related tasks when not driving. Duties and Responsibilities:
The Driver will be responsible for a variety of duties, including:
  • Providing safe transportation for authorized personnel and delivering commodities according to authorized routing while adhering to UN safety and security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security rules.
  • Meeting official personnel and visitors at the airport or other entry points, assisting with visa and customs formalities to ensure smooth entry.
  • Maintaining accurate vehicle log books and reporting mechanical status to the supervisor to ensure efficient vehicle use.
  • Keeping the assigned vehicle clean and in good condition, ensuring timely maintenance and reporting any mechanical issues.
  • Following established rules for field deliveries and reporting any incidents or problems to the supervisor.
  • Performing basic office-related tasks such as filing, photocopying, and maintaining stores when required.
  • Carrying out other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must have completed secondary school education and possess formal driver training with a valid driver’s license/certification to operate assigned vehicles. A minimum of two years of work experience as a Driver, preferably in an international organization, embassy, or UN system, is required. A demonstrated safe driving record is essential, along with experience in driving various types of vehicles, including vans and trucks. Knowledge of driving rules, local roads, and safety standards is crucial, as well as the ability to assist in emergencies and perform minor vehicle repairs.

Educational Background:
The educational requirement for this position includes the completion of secondary school education. Candidates should have formal driver training and hold a valid driver’s license that complies with local regulations. This educational background ensures that the Driver is equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to perform their duties effectively and safely.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of two years of relevant work experience as a Driver.
