This internship is a full-time, six-month opportunity that requires the intern to be physically present in the Bangkok office. The intern will gain valuable experience in research, analysis, and engagement with UN human rights mechanisms, while also contributing to the overall mission of OHCHR.
Duties and Responsibilities: The intern will be responsible for a range of duties that support the work of OHCHR in Southeast Asia. Key responsibilities include: - Monitoring and analyzing human rights developments and trends in South-East Asia, including political and conflict-related issues. - Researching and drafting internal and external notes and reports, with a particular emphasis on preparing daily news updates regarding the human rights situation in the region. - Supporting SEARO's engagement with UN human rights mechanisms, such as Special Procedures and Treaty Bodies. - Assisting in the organization of workshops and seminars, as well as maintaining and developing information and resource tools. - Updating information on the office's website and ensuring that resources are accessible. - Participating in meetings and conferences, taking notes, and performing additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Required Qualifications: Applicants for the UN Internship Programme are not required to have prior professional work experience. However, candidates must be pursuing a field of study closely related to the internship they are applying for. Eligible applicants include students in their final year of a bachelor's degree, master's degree, or Ph.D. program, or those who have recently completed such programs. It is essential for applicants to provide proof of their academic status, such as an official certificate, at a later stage in the application process.
