Job Overview: The Rehabilitation Senior Technical Officer will play a crucial role in supporting the effective technical implementation of rehabilitation activities across various projects in the West Bank and Gaza Strip. This position is vital for ensuring that all rehabilitation initiatives meet the highest technical standards and are successfully implemented in collaboration with Project Managers (PMs) and Technical Officers. The officer will report to the Technical Head of Programs and will engage with various internal and external stakeholders to facilitate the delivery of rehabilitation services. The role involves providing specialized technical support, conducting assessments, implementing quality assurance measures, and contributing to the education and training of patients and caregivers. The officer will also be responsible for adapting project documentation to align with global technical standards and contributing to reports and proposals.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Rehabilitation Senior Technical Officer include:
Providing specialized technical support to rehabilitation projects in Gaza and the West Bank, including on-the-job training and coaching.
Collaborating with healthcare professionals to gather comprehensive information for accurate assessments.
Implementing quality assurance measures to ensure the safety and effectiveness of rehabilitation services.
Monitoring patient progress and documenting outcomes to enhance service delivery.
Educating patients and caregivers on rehabilitation practices and the use of assistive devices.
Identifying rehabilitation logistics and equipment needs and contributing to procurement processes.
Adapting technical documentation as necessary to meet global standards.
Contributing to project-based technical learning and ensuring collaboration with global and field technical specialists.
Supporting the internal technical training of staff and building team capacity in emergency rehabilitation. 1
Coordinating with external partners to strengthen referral pathways and raise awareness of services. 1
Participating in advocacy efforts and contributing to project content for continuity or expansion. 1
Supporting emergency preparedness actions and adapting work modalities during emergencies.
Required Qualifications: The required qualifications for the Rehabilitation Senior Technical Officer position include:
A university degree in Physiotherapy or Occupational Therapy.
A minimum of 5 years of overall professional experience, with at least 3 years of rehabilitation experience in emergency humanitarian settings.
Experience in supervision and health science pedagogy.
Fluency in oral and written English.
Strong interpersonal and intercultural skills, with the ability to manage stress and demonstrate flexibility and adaptability.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess a university degree in Physiotherapy or Occupational Therapy, which provides the foundational knowledge and skills necessary for effective rehabilitation practice in humanitarian contexts.
Experience: The position requires at least 5 years of overall professional experience, including a minimum of 3 years specifically in rehabilitation within emergency humanitarian settings. This experience should encompass both practical rehabilitation work and supervisory roles, demonstrating the ability to lead and train others in challenging environments.
Languages: Fluency in English, both oral and written, is mandatory for this position. Additional language skills may be beneficial but are not specified as requirements.
Additional Notes: The position is based in Amman, Jordan, with frequent travel to Gaza and the West Bank. The contract duration is 5 months, starting from December 1st, 2025, with the possibility of renewal. The organization offers an international contract that includes social coverage, unemployment insurance for EU nationals, a pension scheme, medical coverage with a 50% employee contribution, and repatriation insurance. The salary starts at €2448 gross per month, with additional per diem rates based on the location of work. Paid leave is provided at a rate of 25 days per year, and the position is unaccompanied with collective housing provided by HI.
