Job Overview:
The International Compensation & Benefits Manager plays a pivotal role in the design and implementation of new rewards policies and tools at MSF. This position is crucial as MSF is currently undergoing a significant transformation in its compensation and benefits framework, initiated through a comprehensive process known as the Rewards Review. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing components of the rewards deliverables, particularly focusing on the mobile salary grid and individual pay. The role requires collaboration with various stakeholders across MSF to ensure that the new policies are equitable, transparent, and consistent, ultimately supporting MSF's mission to maintain a diverse workforce equipped to meet both current and future humanitarian challenges. The position also involves monitoring and adjusting existing global rewards policies as necessary, ensuring that MSF remains responsive to the evolving needs of its staff and operational contexts.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Ensure progress with the design and implementation of rewards deliverables, specifically the mobile salary grid and individual pay, as outlined in the Implementation Roadmap approved by the Executive Committee (ExCom). This includes: - Consulting with stakeholders and coordinating working groups to design rewards solutions, develop policy content, and create tools. - Developing and documenting proposals for new policies and supporting decision-making through relevant information and analysis, including data from external research and internal consultations. - Liaising with the IHR Financial Modelling Advisor to analyze the financial impact of proposed policies per workstream and support data collection as needed. - Providing progress updates to IHR team leadership to facilitate necessary decision-making at the Global Rewards Policy (GRP) and/or International Development and Resource Hub (IDRH). - Coordinating activities related to the rollout of changes, including developing final policy content and necessary implementation tools, monitoring tools, and maintenance processes in collaboration with relevant stakeholders. - Ensuring documentation and knowledge management of project progress and policy content in relevant SharePoint sites and project management tools. - Supporting contracting entities in preparing for implementation and adjusting their systems, particularly for mobile staff.
  • Contribute to other activities necessary for the progress of other rewards deliverables, including: - Supporting the ongoing implementation of benefits changes as needed. - Assisting entities in implementing the Global Pay Policy Framework as workload allows. - Contributing to the development of monitoring and reporting tools and supporting their implementation. - Managing and maintaining existing global rewards policies as needed. - Ensuring progress with the design and/or implementation of other reward topics as assigned, particularly after the rollout of the mobile salary grid is complete (from mid-2026).
  • Contribute to other International HR team activities, including: - Regularly attending IHR team and other relevant internal meetings. - Providing compensation and benefits expertise to other IHR projects and activities. - Contributing to work planning and working flexibly as part of an agile team, supporting other team members as needed.

Required Qualifications:
The ideal candidate for the International Compensation & Benefits Manager position should possess a strong background in human resources, particularly in compensation and benefits management. They should have a deep understanding of international HR practices and be able to navigate complex organizational structures. The candidate must demonstrate excellent analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data and provide insights that inform policy development. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as the role requires collaboration with various stakeholders across MSF. The candidate should also be adaptable and willing to work in an agile team environment, responding to changing priorities and project needs. A commitment to MSF's humanitarian principles and values is crucial.

Educational Background:
A bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field is required for the International Compensation & Benefits Manager position. A master's degree or professional certification in human resources or compensation management is highly desirable. The educational background should reflect a strong foundation in HR principles, organizational behavior, and strategic management, equipping the candidate with the knowledge necessary to effectively contribute to MSF's compensation and benefits initiatives.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of 5-7 years of experience in human resources, with a focus on compensation and benefits management. Experience in an international context, particularly within humanitarian organizations or non-profits, is highly advantageous. The candidate should have a proven track record of successfully managing compensation projects and implementing rewards policies. Familiarity with global compensation trends and practices, as well as experience in project management, will be beneficial for this role.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for the International Compensation & Benefits Manager position, as it is the primary working language of MSF International. Proficiency in French or Spanish is highly desirable, given MSF's operational contexts and the need for effective communication with diverse stakeholders across different regions. Additional language skills may be considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's ability to engage with a broader range of colleagues and partners.
