Job Overview:
The Platform Engineer position is a critical role within the Information Technology division of the EBRD, aimed at leading the transformation of cloud-native architectures and containerized microservices. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and supporting hyperscale Azure architectures, ensuring the delivery of secure, highly-available, and resilient solutions. This role involves working with CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), observability tools, and configuration management to create robust enterprise-scale platforms. The Platform Engineer will also engage in re-architecting legacy applications and orchestrating cloud-native services, making a significant impact on the organization's operational excellence and automation initiatives. The role requires collaboration with various teams, consulting on DevOps best practices, and troubleshooting infrastructure and application performance issues.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Platform Engineer include but are not limited to: designing, implementing, and supporting hyperscale cloud architectures; developing microservice-oriented, containerized solutions; consulting with other squads on DevOps methodologies; troubleshooting application issues and infrastructure management; setting up CI/CD pipelines for production deployments; utilizing configuration management tools; managing package and dependency solutions; employing observability tools for performance monitoring; provisioning platforms through IaC tools; and migrating workloads between on-premise and hyperscale cloud environments. The role also involves working closely with Managed Service Providers and Professional Service Partners to ensure the successful delivery of technology solutions.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess intermediate to advanced technology certifications relevant to the role, such as those in cloud architecture or DevOps practices. Additionally, an entry-level service management certification, such as ITIL Foundation, is required. The ideal candidate should have a robust understanding of software development principles, infrastructure management, and performance monitoring approaches, as well as experience in consulting on DevOps practices across various teams.

Educational Background:
A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is typically required for this position. Advanced degrees or specialized certifications in cloud computing, DevOps, or related disciplines may be advantageous and are often preferred by employers in this sector.

Experience:
The position requires candidates to have substantial experience in designing, implementing, and supporting cloud architectures, particularly within Microsoft Azure. Candidates should have a proven track record of working with container orchestration tools and enterprise-scale applications. Experience in setting up CI/CD pipelines, configuration management, and observability tooling is essential. Familiarity with migrating workloads between on-premise and cloud environments is also necessary, along with a strong understanding of performance monitoring and troubleshooting practices.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position, as it is the primary language of communication within the organization. Knowledge of additional languages, particularly those spoken in the EBRD member countries, would be considered an asset and could enhance a candidate's profile.

Additional Notes:
This position is a fixed-term contract lasting three years. The EBRD offers hybrid and flexible working arrangements, with a preference for in-person collaboration at least three days a week.
