Job Overview: The IT Officer will play a crucial role in managing the day-to-day IT infrastructure of DRC in Syria. This position is pivotal in supporting the organization's IT sector improvements and ensuring compliance with DRC's procedures and guidelines. The IT Officer will be responsible for planning and implementing various IT systems, providing technical support, and contributing to the development of country strategies that translate into actionable plans. The role requires a focus on enhancing in-country capacity and providing technical guidance to country operations. The IT Officer will also oversee country activities, ensuring that the IT infrastructure meets the operational needs of DRC's mission in Syria.
Duties and Responsibilities: The IT Officer's duties include planning, designing, documenting, and implementing various IT systems, such as desktop PCs, servers, network equipment, and software applications. The officer will monitor internet connections and bandwidth to ensure adherence to Service Level Agreements. Safeguarding DRC data through security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security-policies" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security policies and implementing backup and recovery procedures is essential. The role also involves creating a capacity-building plan that includes mentoring, training, and advice. The IT Officer will coordinate the distribution of client/server software and service packs, perform preventive maintenance on IT equipment, and conduct general repairs. Recommendations for new equipment and services will be made, and the officer will liaise with vendors for procurement. Inventory management of ICT materials and providing IT support to staff in field offices are also key responsibilities. The officer will travel to field offices as needed and advise on new technologies, ensuring smooth onboarding of staff and leading the annual procurement plan for the country operation.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must have at least 2 years of experience in similar positions, demonstrating proven experience in digitalizing workflows. Proficiency in MS applications and Business Intelligence applications is required, along with experience in preparing and monitoring IT procurement plans and budgets. The ability to work collaboratively and effectively communicate with various stakeholders is essential for success in this role.
Educational Background: A university or professional degree in information technology, computer systems, or a related field is required for this position. This educational background ensures that the candidate possesses the necessary technical knowledge and skills to manage the IT infrastructure effectively.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in IT roles, particularly in managing IT infrastructure and supporting digitalization efforts. Candidates should have a track record of successfully implementing IT systems and providing technical support in a humanitarian or similar context.
Languages: Fluency in Arabic is required, along with advanced proficiency in English. These language skills are essential for effective communication within the organization and with stakeholders in the region.
