Job Overview: The Logistics Associate (Transport) plays a crucial role in WFP’s transport operations, ensuring the efficient, timely, and cost-effective movement of food and non-food items. This position involves providing specialized support functions and supervising staff engaged in standard logistics and supply chain processes. The Logistics Associate will coordinate various transport modalities, including land, sea, and air, to ensure that commodities are delivered to authorized partners and destinations in a timely manner. This role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to maintaining high standards of service delivery. The Logistics Associate will also be responsible for budget management, compliance with transport policies, and documentation accuracy, contributing to the overall effectiveness of WFP’s logistics operations.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Logistics Associate (Transport) will be responsible for a range of duties, including:
Providing specialized support to logistics operations and activities, ensuring effective delivery of food assistance.
Coordinating the transport of commodities using WFP’s fleet and contracted service providers.
Managing logistics vendor contracting activities, including performance monitoring.
Gathering market intelligence and conducting vendor assessments to support the vendor selection process.
Resolving specialized queries and providing recommendations to ensure timely and accurate resolution of inquiries.
Preparing, monitoring, and revising budgets for all delivery modalities.
Ensuring compliance with WFP transport policies and procedures.
Preparing transport plans and verifying transport documentation.
Monitoring and verifying invoicing for accuracy and ensuring data entry in WFP’s systems. 1
Supporting oversight for commodity accounting data quality and integrity. 1
Analyzing operational pipelines and contributing to assessments and operational planning. 1
Supporting logistics emergency preparedness and response activities. 1

Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a strong understanding of logistics and supply chain management principles. They should demonstrate excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work under pressure. Proficiency in using logistics management software and tools is essential. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are required to effectively coordinate with various stakeholders. The ideal candidate should also have a client-service mindset and be able to work collaboratively in a team environment. Knowledge of WFP’s policies and procedures related to transport operations is an advantage.
Educational Background: A minimum of a secondary school education is required, with a preference for candidates holding a degree in logistics, supply chain management, business administration, or a related field. Additional certifications in logistics or supply chain management will be considered an asset.
Experience: Candidates should have at least three years of relevant experience in logistics and supply chain management, with a focus on transport operations. Experience working in humanitarian or development contexts is highly desirable. Familiarity with WFP’s operations and logistics processes will be an advantage.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, both written and spoken. Knowledge of local languages spoken in the Philippines, such as Filipino or regional dialects, is considered a strong asset and may enhance communication with local stakeholders.
Additional Notes: This position is full-time and based in Cotabato, Philippines. The contract duration will be specified during the offer stage, and the remuneration will be in accordance with WFP’s salary scale.
