Job Overview: The Donor Care Coordinator plays a crucial role in enhancing the donor experience at Save the Children. This position involves providing exceptional donor stewardship and managing retention activities for various levels of giving, including one-time and recurring donations. The coordinator is responsible for ensuring the accuracy of gift processing, tax receipting, and communications with donors. This role requires collaboration with the database team, internal stakeholders, and fundraising leads to facilitate gift processing for major gifts, corporate donations, foundation contributions, and planned gifts. The coordinator will also be involved in donor retention strategies and will support the overall mission of Save the Children by ensuring that donors feel valued and appreciated for their contributions.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Donor Care Coordinator's responsibilities include handling inbound and outbound communications with donors across multiple channels, ensuring timely delivery of donor communications such as receipts, welcome packs, and thank you calls. The coordinator will support the delivery of donor care and stewardship for Major Gifts, Corporate, Estate, and Planned Giving portfolios. They will be responsible for delivering tax receipting and donor acknowledgments in compliance with CRA regulations, overseeing donor fulfillment and acknowledgments for various fundraising campaigns, and playing a key role in donor retention and re-engagement processes. Additionally, the coordinator will process donations and returned mail accurately and promptly, perform data entry tasks including creating and updating records in the CRM, support vendor file processing, provide regular updates to Resource Development colleagues, and assist with annual audits and information requests.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess post-secondary education in a relevant field or equivalent experience. A minimum of 1-3 years of experience in a similar role is required, with a preference for candidates who have experience in International Development, NGOs, or other not-for-profit sectors. Proven experience in donor or customer retention and sales skills is essential. The ability to work evenings and weekends as needed is also required. Strong communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills are necessary to build effective relationships across diverse audiences. Candidates should demonstrate project management experience and proficiency with MS Office tools and relevant technologies. Analytical and problem-solving skills are important, as is the ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
Educational Background: The ideal candidate should have a post-secondary education in a relevant field such as communications, business administration, or a related discipline. Equivalent experience in donor relations or customer service may also be considered in lieu of formal education. Continuous learning and development opportunities are encouraged within the organization, and candidates should be open to further training and skill enhancement.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 1-3 years of relevant experience in donor care, customer service, or a similar role. Experience in the non-profit sector, particularly in organizations focused on international development or child welfare, is highly desirable. Candidates should have a proven track record of successful donor retention and engagement strategies, as well as experience in managing communications and relationships with diverse stakeholders.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, and proficiency in additional languages such as French, Spanish, or Arabic is considered an asset. Strong communication skills are essential for effectively engaging with donors and stakeholders from various cultural backgrounds.
Additional Notes: This position is covered under the CUPE Bargaining Unit and offers a salary range of $49,514.91 - $61,250.39 CAD, depending on skills and experience.
