Job Overview: The Education Coordinator position at NRC is designed to implement a delegated portfolio of education projects, ensuring that they align with the organization's strategies and donor requirements. The Education Coordinator will contribute to the development of education strategies and project proposals, while also providing input on identified needs and gaps in the education sector. The coordinator will also be responsible for promoting innovative ideas for project improvement and ensuring the capacity building of project staff through training and mentorship. Duties and Responsibilities: The Education Coordinator will have a range of responsibilities, including:
Line management of education project field staff, ensuring effective oversight of work plans and project implementation.
Adhering to NRC policies, guidance, and procedures throughout project execution.
Contributing to the development of education strategies and project proposals, providing insights on needs and gaps in the education sector.
Managing and implementing a delegated portfolio of education projects, ensuring compliance with donor requirements and maintaining high technical quality.
Providing regular progress reports to the Project Manager, Area Manager, and Education CC Specialist.
Ensuring that projects target the most vulnerable participants and exploring innovative ways to assist them.
Promoting and sharing ideas for project improvement and necessary changes.
Building the capacity of project staff and transferring key skills through training and mentorship.
Liaising and collaborating with local authorities and key stakeholders in the education sector. 1
Advocating for the rights of beneficiaries in line with NRC's advocacy strategy. 1
Contributing to the implementation of Safe and Inclusive Programming Minimum Standards across all education activities. 1
Managing education project officers in Gaza and conducting frequent field visits to monitor project activities. 1

Required Qualifications: Candidates for the Education Coordinator position must possess a minimum of 5 years of professional experience in education project implementation, preferably in crisis contexts. They should have in-depth knowledge of education programming, including curriculum design, teacher training, learning assessments, and child protection in education. Familiarity with education in emergencies and non-formal education settings is considered an advantage. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential, as the role requires presenting complex information to diverse stakeholders and maintaining effective communication with team members, partners, and donors. Previous experience in complex and volatile contexts is also required, along with documented results related to the position's responsibilities. Fluency in English, both written and verbal, is mandatory, while knowledge of the local language Arabic is preferred if different from English.
Educational Background: The ideal candidate for the Education Coordinator position should have a relevant educational background, typically a degree in education, social sciences, or a related field. Advanced degrees or specialized training in education programming, humanitarian response, or project management may be advantageous and enhance the candidate's qualifications for the role.
Experience: The position requires candidates to have a minimum of 5 years of professional experience in education project implementation, particularly in crisis situations. Proven experience in managing and implementing education projects, including activity planning, monitoring, and reporting, is essential. Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory for this position, both written and verbal. Knowledge of Arabic is highly desirable, as it is the local language and will facilitate communication with beneficiaries and stakeholders in Gaza. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset but is not required.
Additional Notes: The Education Coordinator position is based in Gaza and is classified as Grade (07) Step (01). The contract duration is for 12 months, with the possibility of renewal based on funding availability, organizational needs, and performance.
