Job Overview: The Technical Advisor – Maternal, Newborn, and Child Health (MNCH) will be the primary technical expert for all MNCH activities under the US DOS-funded EpiC project in Bangladesh. This role requires providing strategic direction, technical leadership, and capacity-building support to ensure effective delivery and integration of MNCH services, especially during public health emergencies. The Advisor will align MNCH efforts with national priorities and US DOS technical standards, focusing on high-risk populations such as pregnant women and children. Responsibilities include coordinating cross-sector collaboration, ensuring evidence-based approaches, and aligning program activities with national and international health standards. The Advisor will work closely with various stakeholders, including EpiC Headquarters, in-country MNCH teams, USG personnel, implementing partners, and Ministries of Health to ensure timely development and implementation of workplans and technical quality.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Technical Advisor will take a leadership role in developing high-quality technical deliverables, including workplans and reports, ensuring they are submitted on schedule and within budget. The Advisor will provide technical direction for evidence-based MNCH programming, establish partnerships with stakeholders, and contribute to design" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">program design, implementation, learning, and evaluation. Responsibilities also include providing technical guidance to program teams, managing monitoring and evaluation performance, developing processes to achieve strategic goals, and promoting project success through effective communication and knowledge management. The Advisor will support the professional development of direct reports and perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess comprehensive knowledge of MNCH programming and policy in Bangladesh, with experience in improving quality clinical care of MNCH activities. A demonstrated ability to work within a multi-faceted health development program in collaboration with national MOH personnel and local partners is essential. The role requires a track record in mentorship and supervision, experience leading teams of health professionals, and familiarity with USG-funded health programs. Excellent communication, organizational, problem-solving, and project management skills are also required, along with the ability to influence and motivate others.
Educational Background: A Master’s Degree or its international equivalent in fields such as Civil Society, Communication and Social Marketing, Economic Development, Education, Environment, Gender, Health, Nutrition, Research, Technology, and Youth is required. A clinical background with public health training is strongly preferred.
Experience: Typically, a minimum of 12+ years of relevant technical/project management experience is required, including at least 8+ years in leadership roles. Prior experience in a non-governmental organization (NGO) is preferred, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience sufficient to perform the key responsibilities of the job.
Languages: Excellent oral and written communication skills in English are preferred. Proficiency in additional languages may be beneficial but is not mandatory.
Additional Notes: This position may involve direct supervision of a team of Technical specialists and Officers. The role is full-time and may require international travel. Compensation will align with the local salary structure based on the country location of the job.
