Job Overview:
The logistics-manager" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Logistics Manager position at Humanity & Inclusion in Damascus is a critical role that involves overseeing the efficient management of logistics resources in the region. Reporting directly to the director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">country director, the Logistics Manager will collaborate with headquarters services to ensure that logistics operations align with HI's standards and objectives. This position is essential for the rollout and implementation of logistics strategies, which include reworking the positioning of logistics within the organization and affirming the principle of professional development. The Logistics Manager will be responsible for managing logistics operations, including procurement planning, resource allocation, and emergency preparedness. The role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to suggest effective solutions to challenges that arise within the logistics domain.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Logistics Manager will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including:
  • Defining the Logistics section of the Strategic Operations Plan (StratOp) and directing its action plan.
  • Deploying HI’s logistics standards and contributing to the organization’s expertise and accountability within the logistics remit.
  • Operational implementation of logistics, which includes conducting a diagnostic phase for contextual analysis, resource planning during the design phase, and procurement planning during the launch phase.
  • Facilitating the development of the logistics profession within HI and contributing to the overall growth of logistics capabilities across the organization.
  • Preparing for and responding to emergencies, ensuring that logistics operations are ready to support humanitarian efforts effectively.
  • Acting as the primary point of contact for the country director regarding logistics issues and providing timely updates and solutions.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates for the Logistics Manager position must hold a degree in logistics or supply chain management, with additional training in logistics management and the development of humanitarian projects or operations. A minimum of 5 years of proven experience in relevant sectors such as procurement, supplies, management of premises, fleet management, or information and communication systems is required. Additionally, candidates should have at least 3 years of experience in a coordination position. Strong analytical and synthesis skills are essential, along with proven leadership experience and the ability to train and manage logistics teams effectively. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are necessary for collaboration with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to manage stress and work under pressure, as well as handle conflicts with strong interpersonal and intercultural skills.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for the Logistics Manager position includes a degree in logistics or supply chain management. Candidates should also have undergone training in logistics management and the development of humanitarian projects or operations, which is crucial for understanding the complexities of logistics in a humanitarian context.

Additional Notes:
This position is offered as a 12-month international contract, starting in November 2025, based in Damascus. The contract includes various benefits such as social coverage tailored to the employee's situation, including unemployment insurance for EU nationals, a pension scheme, and medical coverage with a 50% employee contribution. The salary for this position starts at 2860 € gross per month, depending on experience, along with a per diem of 545 € net per month while in the field. Additionally, a hardship allowance of 250 € net per month is included in the salary. Employees are entitled to 25 days of paid leave per year, with rest and recuperation (R&R) provided according to the mission level, offering 5 days every 3 months. The position is unaccompanied, and housing will be collectively provided by HI. If the candidate is a resident of the country, a local compensation package will be offered.
