Job Overview:
The Project Assistant position at IOM in Brazil is crucial for supporting various projects aimed at addressing the needs of migrants and vulnerable populations. The successful candidate will work under the direct supervision of the National Project Officer in Boa Vista, collaborating closely with various coordinators. The role involves providing clerical assistance, compiling and presenting data, supporting project coordination, and drafting various forms of documentation. The Project Assistant will also help organize meetings and training sessions, respond to inquiries, and maintain records. This position is integral to ensuring that IOM's programs are implemented effectively and that the organization remains accountable to the populations it serves.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Project Assistant will be responsible for a wide range of duties, including but not limited to: providing general and clerical assistance in project implementation; retrieving, compiling, summarizing, and presenting information on specific project topics; supporting project coordination by liaising with various organizational units and external parties; drafting status reports, correspondence, briefing notes, and other documentation; organizing meetings, workshops, and training sessions; responding to general information requests; maintaining files and records; and performing any other related duties as assigned by the supervisor. This role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work independently while adhering to established guidelines.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a High School diploma with at least three years of relevant professional experience, or a university degree from an accredited institution with a minimum of one year of relevant work experience. Accredited universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database. Additionally, candidates should have experience working with migrants, refugees, and other vulnerable groups, and demonstrate the ability to work independently according to established structures and guidelines. Experience with international humanitarian organizations or in a multicultural setting is considered an advantage.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes either a High School diploma with significant relevant experience or a university degree from an accredited institution. The degree must be from a recognized university, as listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database, ensuring that candidates have a solid educational foundation to support their work in a complex and dynamic environment.

Experience:
The position requires candidates to have relevant professional experience, specifically at least three years for those with a High School diploma or one year for those with a university degree. Experience should include working with migrants, refugees, and other vulnerable populations, as well as familiarity with the challenges faced by these groups. Prior experience in international humanitarian organizations or government institutions is highly valued, as it demonstrates the candidate's ability to navigate the complexities of humanitarian work and collaborate effectively in diverse settings.

Languages:
Proficiency in IOM's official languages, which include English, French, and Spanish, is mandatory. Candidates will be evaluated on their language skills during the selection process, which may include both written and oral assessments. While proficiency in these languages is required, additional language skills may be considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations and stakeholders.
