Job Overview:
The Training Associate position is integral to the BALLOT project, which aims to enhance the electoral process in Bangladesh by supporting the Election Commission in its efforts to conduct credible, inclusive, and transparent elections. The role involves coordinating training programs for various stakeholders, including BEC staff and electoral officials, to ensure they are well-prepared for their responsibilities. The Training Associate will assist in designing training materials that are accessible and inclusive, ensuring that they cater to diverse groups, including women, youth, and persons with disabilities. This position offers a unique opportunity to engage in hands-on capacity development and public engagement initiatives, contributing to the overall governance portfolio of UNDP while gaining valuable experience in event coordination and stakeholder engagement.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Training Associate will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including:
  • Supporting the design and implementation of training programs for BEC staff, electoral officials, and other stakeholders.
  • Assisting in the preparation of training plans, session outlines, and learning materials that are inclusive and accessible.
  • Coordinating logistics for training events, workshops, and learning sessions, including venue arrangements and participant communications.
  • Providing facilitation support during training sessions and documenting discussions and outcomes.
  • Maintaining participant databases and ensuring the collection of sex-, age-, and disability-disaggregated data for training activities.
  • Monitoring and tracking progress against training workplans and documenting lessons learned.
  • Liaising with trainers and partner institutions to ensure quality assurance in training delivery.
  • Supporting the development of e-learning modules and digital training content.

  • Performing other tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates for the Training Associate position should possess strong organizational and communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. They should have a commitment to inclusivity and a passion for public service. Familiarity with training methodologies and experience in event coordination are highly desirable. The ideal candidate should also be adaptable and flexible, able to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.

Educational Background:
A bachelor's degree in social sciences, education, public administration, or a related field is required for this position. Additional training or certifications in adult education, training facilitation, or project management would be advantageous.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least 1-2 years of relevant experience in training, capacity building, or project management. Experience working with governmental or non-governmental organizations, particularly in the context of electoral processes or civic engagement, is highly valued. Familiarity with the political landscape in Bangladesh and understanding of the electoral framework will be beneficial.

Languages:
Fluency in Bengali is mandatory, as it is the official language of Bangladesh. Proficiency in English is also required, as it is the working language of UN agencies. Knowledge of additional languages would be considered an asset, particularly if they are relevant to the diverse communities in Bangladesh.

Additional Notes:
This position is a full-time role based in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The contract duration and specific terms of employment will be discussed during the recruitment process. The role may involve some travel within Bangladesh to support training activities. While Dhaka is not categorized as a hardship station, candidates should be prepared for certain limitations in movement and access to specific locations.
