Job Overview: The internship-programme" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Internship Programme at FAO is designed to attract talented young individuals who are motivated to share their innovative ideas and academic experiences in the fields related to FAO's mission. Interns will have the opportunity to supplement their academic knowledge with practical work assignments that align with FAO's goals. The internship experience is not only a chance for personal and professional development but also a way for interns to contribute to the UN Sustainable Development Goals and FAO's Strategic Framework, which supports the 2030 Agenda. Interns will be assigned to various fields of work based on their profiles and the needs of the organization, reporting to an assigned supervisor throughout their internship.
Duties and Responsibilities: Interns will perform tasks as specified in the Terms of Reference (TOR) prepared by the hiring office. This may include conducting research, assisting in project implementation, participating in meetings, and contributing to reports and presentations. Interns are expected to engage actively in their assigned tasks and collaborate with team members to achieve project objectives. They will also have the opportunity to learn about the operations of FAO and gain insights into the workings of international organizations.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must be enrolled in or have recently graduated from an undergraduate or graduate degree program at an accredited educational institution. They should specialize in a field relevant to FAO's mission and work. A working knowledge of at least one FAO language (Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian, or Spanish) is required, and knowledge of a second FAO language is considered an asset. Educational Background: Candidates must have educational qualifications from institutions recognized in the World Higher Education Database (WHED). The focus should be on fields relevant to FAO's work, such as agriculture, nutrition, environmental science, or related disciplines.
Experience: While prior work experience is not mandatory, candidates should demonstrate relevant academic studies or internships that align with FAO's mission. The internship is primarily aimed at students or recent graduates, providing them with an opportunity to gain practical experience in their field of study.
Languages: A working knowledge of at least one of the FAO languages (Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian, or Spanish) is mandatory. Knowledge of a second FAO language will be considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's ability to communicate effectively in a diverse international environment.

Selected candidates will receive a monthly stipend unless sponsored by their universities. Candidates must have appropriate residence or immigration status in Italy prior to joining FAO.
