Job Overview: The Project Manager position at Street Child involves overseeing and coordinating child protection project activities in Ukraine, particularly in response to the humanitarian crisis caused by the ongoing conflict. The role requires a proactive individual who can manage day-to-day project implementation, ensuring that all activities align with international child protection standards and donor requirements. The Project Manager will be responsible for providing technical guidance to local implementing partners, supporting their capacity building efforts, and contributing to the development of new project proposals. This position also entails regular communication with various stakeholders, including government agencies and NGOs, to enhance coordination and advocacy for child protection initiatives. The Project Manager will report directly to the director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Country Director and work closely with various teams within Street Child Ukraine to ensure quality implementation and continuous learning throughout the project lifecycle.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Project Manager will have a diverse set of responsibilities, including but not limited to: overseeing and coordinating project implementation, identifying gaps and challenges, and providing timely responses to ensure project objectives are met. They will work closely with the Project Officer, Protection Officer, and Monitoring and Evaluation team to facilitate smooth project execution. Regular field visits will be conducted to monitor partner activities and ensure adherence to quality standards. The Project Manager will also be responsible for creating high-quality narrative reports on project implementation, reviewing reports submitted by partners, and monitoring project budgets to ensure accountability in fund usage. Additionally, the role includes leading child protection components in the development of new project proposals and providing regular updates on project progress and challenges to the team. Establishing and maintaining excellent relationships with national implementing partners and engaging in Child Protection Area of Responsibility (CP AoR) coordination meetings are also key aspects of this role.
Required Qualifications: Candidates for the Project Manager position must possess proven experience in managing and delivering child protection projects, along with a solid understanding of international child protection standards and principles. Familiarity with safeguarding, protection mainstreaming, and participatory approaches in design" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">program design is essential. Experience in mental health and psychosocial-support" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">psychosocial support (MHPSS) and case management activities is also required. The ideal candidate should have demonstrable experience working closely with national and local NGOs in Ukraine, as well as familiarity with coordination structures in humanitarian settings, including CP AoR and inter-agency cluster systems. Strong leadership capabilities, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines are crucial for success in this role.
Educational Background: A Bachelor’s Degree or higher in International Development, Humanitarian Studies, Human Rights, Social Work, or a related field is required for the Project Manager position. This educational background will provide the necessary theoretical foundation and understanding of the complexities involved in humanitarian work and child protection.
Experience: The position requires candidates to have a proven track record of experience in managing child protection projects, demonstrating their ability to deliver results in challenging environments. Experience working with budgets and preparing proposals for donors is also essential, as is the ability to analyze information critically and provide informed judgments. Candidates should be comfortable working in high-pressure situations and managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
Languages: Excellent written and spoken skills in both Ukrainian and English are mandatory for this position. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset, but the primary requirement is fluency in these two languages to ensure effective communication with local partners and stakeholders.
Additional Notes: This position is a full-time role focused on the humanitarian response in Ukraine, specifically addressing child protection needs. The Project Manager will be expected to travel regularly to field sites to monitor project implementation and support local partners.
