Job Overview:
In this role, you will provide essential technical leadership and strategic guidance aimed at advancing disease control and elimination efforts, specifically focusing on the eradication of all forms of poliovirus. Your responsibilities will encompass both product development and innovative program delivery approaches. You will collaborate with local and regional stakeholders to test and evaluate new solutions, generate evidence, and support the scale-up of effective tools. Additionally, you will deliver analytical insights that will inform decisions made by the Global Polio Eradication Initiative (GPEI) and strengthen partnerships with local, regional, and national eradication programs. This position is a limited-term role for 11 months, starting in mid-November 2025, and does not include relocation assistance.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Your primary duties will include providing technical oversight for a grant portfolio focused on the accelerated development and rollout of novel oral polio vaccines, ensuring close coordination with the director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Deputy Director and other internal and external partners. You will be responsible for offering strategic and analytical insights to guide decision-making regarding vaccine candidates and types based on comprehensive assessments of epidemiological, manufacturing, and clinical data. You will represent the polio team in relevant GPEI working groups and lead efforts to streamline data collection, analysis, and monitoring for the continued use of nOPV
  • Furthermore, you will develop and manage a complex portfolio of grants and contracts to achieve the global goal of polio eradication, ensuring proper documentation, budgeting, and reporting. You will review letters of inquiry and grant proposals, providing insightful analyses and recommendations for funding. Consulting with grantees and partners to maximize project impact will also be part of your responsibilities, which may involve site visits and operational guidance. Additionally, you will contribute to the design of new strategies and implementation plans to ensure long-term sustainability and impact, synthesizing key scientific information and preparing materials for the Foundation's leadership.

Required Qualifications:
We are looking for a collaborative and innovative team member with a proven track record of providing technical leadership in a global health context. Candidates should possess a Ph.D. or MD degree or equivalent demonstrated experience, preferably in a related field such as public health or epidemiology. Significant experience in managing complex implementation programs or innovations in health research and development, data, or digital health is essential. Familiarity with public health or health product development, particularly in infectious disease program design and implementation, investment portfolio strategy, grant making and management, disease modeling, medical product development, clinical trials, and health surveillance is required. Candidates should also have experience with research methodologies and data strategy deployment, as well as program or project management experience from concept development to implementation. In-depth knowledge of infectious diseases and strong quantitative analytical skills are crucial for success in this role.

Educational Background:
Candidates must have a Ph.D. or MD degree or equivalent demonstrated experience in a relevant field, such as public health or epidemiology.   • The salary range for this role is between $233,600 to $362,200 USD, with higher ranges for positions located in Seattle and Washington D.C.
