Job Overview:
The Programme Associate position at WFP is crucial for the implementation and monitoring of school feeding programs in the Banadir region and Hirshabelle state. The incumbent will work under the direct supervision of the Programme Officer for Human Capital Development and will be responsible for liaising with various partners, including NGOs, UN agencies, and government entities, to ensure the effective delivery of school meals. This role involves active participation in the design, oversight, and monitoring of school meal activities, ensuring compliance with WFP policies and procedures. The Programme Associate will prepare monthly distribution plans, verify food movements, and support efforts to address findings from monitoring visits. Additionally, the role requires participation in education coordination" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">cluster coordination meetings and the integration of protection and gender perspectives into all areas of work, ensuring equal participation of both girls and boys in educational programs.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Programme Associate include: acting as the focal point for school meal program activities in the designated regions; liaising with partners to implement the school feeding program; participating in the design and monitoring of school meals activities; preparing monthly distribution plans and verifying food movements; addressing findings from monitoring visits; participating in school assessments and feeding missions; ensuring effective communication between beneficiaries and retailers; providing periodic reports on program implementation; participating in education cluster meetings; integrating protection and gender perspectives into work; maintaining accurate records and files; facilitating meetings with cooperating partners; writing minutes of program meetings; ensuring compliance with accountability standards; and performing any other duties as requested by the supervisor.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess either a secondary school education or a university degree (Diploma/Bachelor) in fields such as Education, Social Sciences, Nutrition, Public Health, Administration, Development Studies, Agriculture, or other related areas. Additionally, candidates should have strong coordination, planning, reporting, and communication skills, as well as a good understanding of the education system in Somalia. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is also required.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes the completion of secondary school education or a university degree in relevant fields such as Education, Social Sciences, Nutrition, Public Health, Administration, Development Studies, or Agriculture. A higher level of education may be preferred, but practical experience in related areas is also highly valued.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least six years of experience with a Secondary School Certificate or a minimum of two years of relevant experience with a university degree. Experience in emergency assistance and humanitarian programs is essential, particularly in areas such as relief, nutrition, monitoring and evaluation, or livelihoods. Familiarity with the local context and education system in Somalia is also beneficial.

Languages:
Fluency in English and Somali is mandatory, with proficiency in both languages required for effective communication and reporting. Additional language skills may be considered an asset but are not mandatory for this position.
