Job Overview:
The Data and Monitoring Consultant for the Child Protection and Development Division will play a crucial role in supporting the CPD team within the Data and Analytics Section. This position involves working on various topics related to child protection, including violence against children, child marriage, and children with disabilities. The consultant will be responsible for enhancing data collection and monitoring tools, conducting data analyses, and disseminating findings through various publications. The role requires a strong commitment to capacity-building efforts and outreach initiatives, ensuring that data on child protection is effectively communicated and utilized to inform policy and practice. The consultant will work closely with the Senior Adviser, Statistics, Child Protection and Development, and will be expected to coordinate workshops, enhance data portals, and support the development of proposals for data analyses.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant's duties will include coordinating the review and enhancement of the Child Marriage Data Portal, supporting the development and implementation of calls for proposals for data analyses, reviewing the effectiveness of eLearning courses, and facilitating capacity development workshops. Specific tasks will involve organizing meetings, preparing materials, conducting surveys, and summarizing feedback. The consultant will also be responsible for ensuring that all deliverables are completed on time and meet the required standards. This includes preparing reports, coordinating with vendors, and facilitating webinars and workshops to enhance the capacity of participants.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a university degree in Demography, public health, or a related social sciences field. They should have at least 20 years of experience in data, statistics, and monitoring, preferably at the international level. Experience in project management, particularly in data dissemination activities, is essential. The consultant should have a proven track record of designing and implementing capacity-building workshops, both in-person and online. Strong interpersonal skills, excellent communication abilities, and organizational skills are required to effectively interact with colleagues and stakeholders at all levels.

Educational Background:
A university degree in Demography, public health, or other relevant social sciences is required for this position. This educational background will provide the necessary foundation for understanding the complexities of child protection and development issues, as well as the statistical methods and data analysis techniques needed for the role.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 20 years of experience in the field of data, statistics, and monitoring, with a preference for candidates who have worked at the international level. Experience in project management, particularly related to data dissemination and capacity-building initiatives, is crucial. The consultant should also have a history of working in multicultural environments and exposure to international professional contexts, ideally within the United Nations System.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset, particularly if they are relevant to the regions where UNICEF operates or to the specific topics being addressed in the consultancy.

Additional Notes:
The consultancy is set to last from 20 October 2025 to 8 January 2026, with the possibility of extension based on performance and project needs. The consultant will work remotely, but may be required to travel for specific assignments. Payment will be based on the submission of satisfactory deliverables, and UNICEF reserves the right to withhold payment if standards are not met. Candidates must have current health insurance coverage at the time of contract award, and any emergent travel expenses will be covered by UNICEF. The selected candidate will also need to confirm their fully vaccinated status against COVID-19, although this requirement does not apply to those working remotely.
