Job Overview: The Sexual & Reproductive Health in Emergencies (SRHiE) Specialist will play a crucial role in providing technical guidance and program management in promoting sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) during emergencies. This position requires collaboration with various humanitarian agencies and national partners to implement the Minimum Initial Service Package (MISP) for SRH in crises and transition to comprehensive SRH services. The specialist will also work to integrate SRH with mental health, protection, and nutrition interventions, ensuring that the needs of women, girls, and people living with disabilities are met. The role involves overseeing the management of the SRH team in Gaza, coordinating projects, and ensuring the integration of UNFPA's mandate within program delivery.
Duties and Responsibilities: The SRHiE Specialist will be responsible for planning, implementing, and monitoring UNFPA's SRHR programs in Gaza. This includes advising on all SRHR interventions, providing technical support to implementing partners, and reviewing work plans and budgets. The specialist will build capacity among newly recruited staff, oversee training sessions, and manage funds in coordination with relevant program leads. Monitoring and evaluation of SRH assistance will be critical, ensuring quality standards are met and that no one is left behind. The specialist will lead the SRHR Working Group under the health cluster, ensuring UNFPA's leadership role in SRHR coordination during transitions and recovery phases. Additionally, the role involves capacity development, resource mobilization, communication, and advocacy for SRHR programming.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess an advanced master's degree in health care sciences, public health, or related fields. A minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible professional and managerial experience in maternal health is required, with at least 3 years of field experience in humanitarian settings. Familiarity with multi-stakeholder environments, including NGOs and UN agencies, is essential. Strong communication and writing skills in English are necessary, and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is required.
Educational Background: An advanced master's degree in health science, public health, or a related field is mandatory for this position. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of sexual and reproductive health in emergency contexts and for effectively managing related programs.
