Job Overview: The Sexual and Reproductive Health in Emergencies Specialist will play a vital role in enhancing UNFPA's efforts in emergency preparedness and response. Duties and Responsibilities: The Sexual and Reproductive Health in Emergencies Specialist will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including:
Providing technical support and capacity building to partners and stakeholders in emergency settings, ensuring the implementation of Minimum Initial Service Package (MISP) for SRH.
Analyzing trends and risks in humanitarian contexts to inform preparedness and response strategies.
Contributing to the development and revision of policies, frameworks, and tools related to SRH in emergencies.
Supporting resource mobilization efforts by drafting project proposals and managing grants related to SRH projects.
Monitoring and reporting on the implementation of SRH projects, ensuring effective allocation and utilization of emergency funds.
Coordinating training sessions on SRH in emergencies, including clinical management of rape and obstetric emergencies.
Collecting and synthesizing research findings and best practices to inform program priorities and enhance accountability in SRH interventions.
Engaging with technical networks at global and regional levels to promote SRH as a critical area of intervention in emergencies.
Performing any other duties as directed by the UNFPA Representative or Head of Field Office.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess an advanced university degree in public health, sexual and reproductive health, or a related field. A clinical degree in midwifery or obstetrics is preferred. Additionally, candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible professional experience in humanitarian programming, with at least 3 years of direct field experience in sexual and reproductive health in emergencies. Familiarity with IASC and other humanitarian coordination mechanisms is advantageous. Strong interpersonal skills, creativity, and project management abilities are essential, along with the capacity to work effectively with diverse populations and cultures.
Educational Background: The position requires an advanced university degree in public health, sexual and reproductive health, or a related field. A clinical degree, particularly in midwifery or obstetrics, is highly desirable, as it provides the necessary clinical knowledge and skills relevant to the role.
Experience: Candidates should have at least 5 years of increasingly responsible professional experience in humanitarian programming, specifically in the field of sexual and reproductive health in emergencies. Experience in program development, management, and reporting is also essential.
