Job Overview: The UN Volunteer (UNV) position is integral to the effective implementation of the human rights and justice programme in Morocco. The role involves a wide range of activities related to the development and execution of the workplan, ensuring quality assurance of activities carried out by partners. The UNV will work closely with program managers to ensure high-quality implementation of project work-plans. This position requires providing technical support across all areas of rule of law and gender programming, which includes programme planning, design, management, quality assurance, knowledge management, and oversight, monitoring, and evaluation (M&E) as well as reporting. The UNV will play a crucial role in advancing the objectives of the UNDP's governance and rule of law programming, which focuses on democratic reforms, social inclusion, and the protection of vulnerable populations, particularly women and youth.
Duties and Responsibilities: The UN Volunteer will undertake several key tasks, including: 1) Programme Planning and Design Management: Assisting the program manager in maintaining effective working relationships with the Government, UN agencies, and donors; contributing to the design of ongoing and future Rule of Law projects; supporting regular project reviews and providing strategic guidance; ensuring the integration of cross-cutting issues such as gender and human rights into project activities. 2) Knowledge Management: Facilitating the collection and dissemination of international best practices and lessons learned related to change management and institutional reform in Morocco. 3) Oversight, M&E, and Reporting: Contributing to the formulation and quality assurance of narrative reports for donors and government stakeholders regarding Rule of Law projects. The UNV will also be expected to demonstrate competencies such as adaptability, commitment, knowledge sharing, respect for diversity, and technological awareness.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess strong analytical and communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. A solid understanding of human rights, rule of law, and gender issues is essential. The ideal candidate should also have experience in project management and be able to engage effectively with various stakeholders, including government entities and civil society organizations. Additionally, proficiency in report writing and knowledge management practices is required.
Educational Background: A bachelor's degree in law, social sciences, international relations, or a related field is required. A master's degree in a relevant discipline would be an advantage. Candidates should have a strong academic background that supports their understanding of human rights and governance issues.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience in areas related to human rights, rule of law, or governance. Experience working with international organizations, particularly in the context of UNDP or similar entities, is highly desirable. Familiarity with the Moroccan context and its legal framework will be beneficial.
Languages: Fluency in Arabic and French is mandatory, as these are the primary languages used in Morocco. Proficiency in English is also highly desirable, as it will facilitate communication with international partners and stakeholders.
Additional Notes: This is a full-time position with a contract duration that may vary based on project needs. The role is based in Rabat, Morocco, and may involve some travel within the country.
