In July 2010, the United Nations General Assembly created UN Women, the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women. In doing so, UN Member States took an historic step in accelerating the Organization’s goals on gender equality and the empowerment of women. The creation of UN Women came about as part of the UN reform agenda, bringing together resources and mandates for greater impact. Job Description

Job Overview:
The Gender Information Management Consultant will report to the Humanitarian Program Specialist and will be supported by the Country Program Coordinator. This role is crucial for the effective management of UN Women’s CRAF’d project and other humanitarian programs in Myanmar. The consultant will contribute to gender data programming, design, formulation, implementation, and evaluation, particularly in relation to gender assessments and analysis. The consultant will also support the delivery of gender data and information management programs, develop data gathering tools, create program-related infographics, and analyze results in collaboration with various specialists. The position requires close collaboration with the program, M&E, communications specialists, and operations teams, as well as engagement with women’s civil society organizations (CSOs) to ensure successful project implementation and enhanced inter-agency gendered technical support.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant's responsibilities include supporting gendered analysis of national inter-agency assessments, contributing to gender data technical expertise in relevant clusters and working groups, providing capacity building on gendered information management, participating in various working group activities, and supporting the content management of the GiHA WG website. The consultant will also assist in the implementation and management of the CRAF’d project, monitor and report on project results, coordinate capacity building plans for Women-CSOs, and develop knowledge management products related to gender data. Additionally, the consultant will provide technical inputs for program strategies, contribute to inter-agency coordination activities, and assist in building partnerships and resource mobilization strategies.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master’s degree or equivalent in social sciences, human rights, gender/women’s studies, information systems, statistics, international development, or a related field. A first-level university degree combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced degree. A project/programme management certification such as PMP®, PRINCE2®, or MSP® is considered an advantage. Candidates should demonstrate strong analytical skills, knowledge of gender in humanitarian action, and experience in data analysis, monitoring and evaluation, and capacity building.

Educational Background:
The educational requirements for this position include a Master’s degree or equivalent in relevant fields such as social sciences, human rights, gender/women’s studies, information systems, statistics, or international development. A first-level university degree may be accepted with additional qualifying experience. A project/programme management certification is a plus.

Experience:
At least 5 years of relevant work experience in data analysis within development or humanitarian contexts is required. Experience in gender analysis and gender data collection is an asset, as is a strong background in research and data analysis related to humanitarian and development issues. Familiarity with project management in these fields and experience working with UN agencies or international NGOs, particularly in gender work, is desirable. Knowledge of the UN and humanitarian cluster system is also beneficial.

Languages:
Fluency in English and Myanmar is mandatory. Knowledge of any other local language is considered an asset, enhancing the consultant's ability to communicate effectively within diverse communities.

Additional Notes:
The consultant will be based in Yangon with full-time office attendance at the UN Women office, and may require occasional travel to the field for needs assessments and capacity building training for Women-CSOs.
