Job Overview:
The Technical Support Officer will play a crucial role in ensuring the effective operation of simultaneous interpretation and sound system equipment during various events organized by the OSCE Mission in Kosovo. This position requires a proactive individual who can manage technical setups, troubleshoot issues, and maintain equipment to ensure seamless communication during meetings, conferences, and seminars. The successful candidate will work closely with the National Language Service Coordinator and will be responsible for the logistical aspects of equipment management, including transport, installation, and maintenance. The role also involves liaising with event organizers to understand their technical requirements and providing necessary support to interpreters. This position is vital for facilitating effective dialogue and understanding among diverse stakeholders in Kosovo.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Technical Support Officer will be responsible for the following duties:
  • Provision of simultaneous interpretation equipment and sound system equipment tasks, including transport, installation, setup, testing, adjustment, operation, and removal of equipment for various events.
  • Monitoring the performance of equipment during events and resolving any technical issues that arise.
  • Inspecting event sites in advance to ensure they meet technical requirements.
  • Ensuring the safe transport of equipment and maintaining communication with event organizers regarding technical setups.
  • Conducting internal inventory checks after each event to ensure all equipment is accounted for.
  • Performing routine maintenance on equipment and arranging repairs or replacements as necessary.
  • Keeping a logbook of requests for equipment and ensuring timely responses.
  • Preparing customs documentation for equipment used in events outside Kosovo.
  • Maintaining a schedule of meetings and statistics on technical support provided. 1
  • Providing training sessions for interpreters on the use of equipment when needed. 1
  • Performing other duties as assigned, which may include driving official vehicles.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess completed secondary education and vocational training in the field of conference equipment. A minimum of three years of technical working experience in a related field, preferably in an international environment, is required. Excellent written and oral communication skills in English, along with fluency in local languages, are essential. Candidates should have knowledge of the use and maintenance of conference equipment, the ability to identify and analyze technical problems, and hold a valid driving license. Demonstrated gender awareness and sensitivity, as well as the ability to work with diverse teams, are also necessary. Proficiency in Microsoft applications is required.

Educational Background:
The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent (GED). Vocational training specifically related to conference equipment is highly desirable, as it provides the necessary technical knowledge and skills for the role.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of three years of relevant technical experience, ideally in an international context. This experience should include hands-on work with simultaneous interpretation and sound system equipment, as well as familiarity with the logistical aspects of managing such equipment during events.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, along with proficiency in local languages. Knowledge of additional languages may be considered an asset, enhancing communication with diverse stakeholders.

Additional Notes:
This position is a full-time, fixed-term contract with a monthly remuneration of 934.58 Euro, subject to social security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security deductions. Social benefits include participation in the OSCE Group Insurance Plan and the OSCE Provident Fund.
