Job Overview: The position is a limited-term role for 24 months based in Seattle, WA, with relocation assistance available. The Strategic Investment Fund is looking for an Associate-level investor to enhance its investment portfolio. The role involves contributing to the formation of investment theses, deal origination, investment execution, and management activities across the foundation's focus areas. The Associate will work closely with program strategy teams to understand their impact objectives and collaborate with technical colleagues to source potential investments. The position requires participation in deal teams, which include program experts and legal colleagues, to execute new investments, perform evaluations, lead due diligence processes, and negotiate legal documentation. The Associate will also be involved in portfolio management, ensuring effective communication with stakeholders and providing updates on the performance of investments.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Associate will have several key responsibilities, including:
Collaborating with foundation program strategy teams to comprehend their impact objectives and forming investment theses.
Actively sourcing potential investments through outreach and relationship-building within entrepreneurial and investment communities.
Joining deal teams that consist of program technical experts and legal colleagues to execute new investments, which includes performing initial evaluations, shaping discussions with companies, determining investment structures, leading due diligence processes, and negotiating legal documentation.
Presenting investments to the foundation's Investment Committee.
Participating in all aspects of portfolio management, which may involve serving as an observer on boards of directors, facilitating interactions between portfolio companies and foundation program teams, and proactively identifying and addressing strategic, financial, and legal issues.
Ensuring high-quality interactions and maintaining clear communication with both internal and external stakeholders.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a bachelor’s degree and a minimum of two years of relevant experience in venture capital, growth equity, leveraged buy-out funds, or investment banking. They should have experience in deal sourcing, execution, and company engagement, along with a strong interest in principal investing and a commitment to the foundation's mission of driving innovative social impact. Additionally, candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without requiring visa sponsorship.
