Job Overview:
The Nutrition Programme Cash-Based Transfer Officer position is crucial for providing specialized support and technical analyses to the nutrition programme's cash-based transfer interventions. The role involves managing the operational aspects of cash-based transfers, which include both cash and voucher systems for nutrition treatment and prevention interventions. The officer will be responsible for conducting regular price assessments to inform the value of cash-based transfers, revising ration plans based on prevailing prices, and ensuring the availability of funds for project implementation. This position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work independently while managing resources effectively. The officer will also be expected to provide training to partners and staff, ensuring that the cash-based transfer systems are implemented efficiently and effectively.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The incumbent will be responsible for a variety of duties, including but not limited to: managing the operational aspects of cash-based transfers for the nutrition programme, facilitating regular price assessments, revising ration plans in collaboration with the programme team, tracking available budgets, ensuring funds availability, and facilitating the processing of transfers. The officer will organize and facilitate retailer assessments, onboarding, and capacity building, while also contributing to the engagement of financial service providers. Additionally, the officer will prepare contingency plans for voucher utilization, support troubleshooting efforts, and conduct monthly reconciliations of beneficiary numbers and costs. Regular training sessions for partners and relevant staff will also be part of the responsibilities, along with any other duties as required by the organization.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a BA degree in International Affairs, Economics, Nutrition/Health, Agriculture, Environmental Science, Social Sciences, or a related field. Completion of secondary school education is mandatory, while a higher degree is considered an advantage. The role requires at least 6 years of professional work experience in a humanitarian organization, with a focus on market assessments, cash-based transfer programming, information technology, or monitoring and evaluation (M&E). Candidates should demonstrate knowledge of WFP's work and have experience working with technical teams in relevant fields.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a minimum of a BA degree in relevant fields such as International Affairs, Economics, Nutrition/Health, Agriculture, Environmental Science, or Social Sciences. Candidates with a secondary school education may be considered, but a higher degree is preferred and will enhance the candidate's profile.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 6 years of professional experience in a humanitarian context. Candidates should have expertise in market assessments, cash-based transfer programming, and familiarity with information technology and monitoring and evaluation processes. Experience in contributing to the implementation of programmes and engaging in policy discussions related to nutrition and social protection is highly desirable.

Languages:
Fluency in both oral and written communication in English and Amharic is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset but is not required.
