Job Overview:
The VCCRP GEDSI Coordinator will be instrumental in promoting gender equity, disability, and social inclusion within the framework of climate adaptation initiatives in Vanuatu. This role requires a proactive approach to ensure that the needs of vulnerable groups are prioritized and addressed in all project activities. The coordinator will work closely with various stakeholders, including government agencies and community organizations, to develop and implement strategies that foster inclusive practices. The position demands a strong commitment to community engagement and the ability to adapt interventions to meet the diverse needs of the population. The coordinator will also be responsible for building the capacity of staff and partners to effectively implement GEDSI principles in their work, ensuring that the project not only meets its objectives but also empowers marginalized communities.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The GEDSI Coordinator will lead the development and execution of the VCCRP Gender Action Plan, ensuring that GEDSI principles are integrated into all aspects of project design, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation. Responsibilities include overseeing the Project’s Grievance Redress Mechanism, providing technical assistance to enhance GEDSI outcomes, and delivering training to staff and partners. The coordinator will also contribute to the development of approaches that address climate change vulnerabilities while promoting GEDSI. Additionally, the role involves building an evidence base for GEDSI approaches, integrating lessons learned into project delivery, and representing the project in relevant forums. The coordinator will promote a safe working environment and ensure compliance with child safeguarding policies.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Gender Equity, Disability and Social Inclusion, Community Development, Social Work, or related fields. If a candidate lacks formal qualifications, relevant training or equivalent work experience will be considered. Essential knowledge includes principles of inclusion, gender equity, and methods for engaging diverse populations in advocacy efforts. Candidates should have demonstrated experience in leading GEDSI program development and implementation, particularly in the context of Vanuatu. Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with various stakeholders are also required.

Educational Background:
A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Gender Equity, Disability and Social Inclusion, Community Development, or Social Work is essential. Candidates without formal qualifications may still be considered if they possess significant relevant experience or training. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of gender and social inclusion in the context of climate change.

Experience:
The position requires at least 3 to 5 years of relevant work experience in gender equity, disability, and social inclusion, or community development. Candidates should have a proven track record of leading and supervising GEDSI program development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation. Experience working with Vanuatu’s Department of Women’s Affairs or similar organizations is desirable, as is familiarity with Green Climate Fund projects.

Languages:
Strong written and verbal communication skills in English are mandatory. Knowledge of Bislama and French is considered an asset, as it can enhance communication with local communities and stakeholders.
