Job Overview:
The GBV AoR Information Management Associate position is crucial for supporting the Gender-Based Violence Area of Responsibility (GBV AoR) in Ukraine. The role involves managing data related to GBV, ensuring ethical data practices, and coordinating with various partners and agencies. The associate will work under the supervision of the GBV AoR Information Management Specialist and will be responsible for data collection, analysis, and sharing, as well as capacity building for partners on data management practices. The position is designed to enhance the effectiveness of GBV services and improve the overall response to gender-based violence in the context of ongoing challenges in Ukraine, particularly due to the war and its impact on vulnerable populations.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the GBV AoR Information Management Associate include:
  • Supporting GBV AoR Data Management: This involves coordinating with partners to accurately enter data into various databases, ensuring data quality, conducting regular checks, and analyzing data to identify trends. The associate will also assist with qualitative data collection and monitor data quality issues.
  • Capacity Building on Data Management: The associate will facilitate training sessions for partners on GBV information management, provide coaching on monitoring tools, and maintain regular office hours for partner support.
  • Coordination with Partners: Participation in meetings and discussions on information management, coordinating with other clusters and AoRs to ensure ethical data management, and supporting monitoring visits to GBV service providers.
  • Handover and Knowledge Transfer: Developing a comprehensive knowledge transfer plan at the end of the assignment, ensuring all project deliverables are organized and accessible, and training an internal team member to ensure continuity.
  • Other tasks as required by the GBV AoR coordination team.

Required Qualifications:
The position requires a strong understanding of data management principles, particularly in the context of gender-based violence. Candidates should possess skills in data analysis, visualization, and ethical data practices. Experience in training and capacity building is also essential, along with the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders. Strong communication and organizational skills are necessary to effectively manage the responsibilities of the role.

Educational Background:
Candidates should have a degree in a relevant field such as social sciences, public health, data management, or a related discipline. Advanced degrees or specialized training in gender studies or humanitarian response may be advantageous.

Experience:
The position requires prior experience in data management, preferably within the humanitarian or development sectors. Experience working with gender-based violence issues and familiarity with the context of Ukraine, particularly in relation to the ongoing conflict, will be highly beneficial. Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to ethical data practices and have a track record of successful collaboration with diverse partners.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, and proficiency in Ukrainian or Russian is highly desirable. Knowledge of additional languages may be considered an asset, particularly in enhancing communication with local partners and communities.

Additional Notes:
This is a national UN Volunteer assignment, and the volunteer is responsible for organizing their own accommodation. The contract is full-time and may be extended based on funding and performance. The position offers a Volunteer Living Allowance of USD 2076 per month, along with a one-time entry lump sum payment of USD 40
  • Medical and life insurance coverage is provided for the duration of the assignment, and volunteers accrue annual leave and sick leave entitlements. The role requires a commitment to continuous learning and flexibility in adapting to the evolving needs of the GBV AoR.
