Job Overview: The Young Professionals Program (YPP) at ADB serves as an entry-level recruitment initiative aimed at attracting motivated individuals who aspire to build a career in international development. This program is designed to provide participants with the opportunity to develop their professional skills, gain a comprehensive understanding of ADB's operations, and contribute to the achievement of the bank's Strategy 2030 objectives. As a Young Professional, you will be involved in various aspects of ADB's mission, including the execution of key instruments such as loans, technical assistance, grants, and advisory services. The role requires a proactive approach to learning and engagement, as you will be expected to collaborate with senior staff and contribute to the development of policies and strategies that align with ADB's goals. The position also involves project management responsibilities, where you will assist in the administration of loans and grants, ensuring that ADB's policies and guidelines are integrated into project design and implementation. Additionally, you will play a role in knowledge sharing and advocacy efforts, contributing to ADB's mission of promoting sustainable development across the region.
Duties and Responsibilities: As a Young Professional at ADB, your responsibilities will include:
Strategy and Planning: Assisting in the development of policies and strategies for ADB, applying your expertise to support research and analysis related to the development impact of ADB operations.
Project Management: Participating in the development, processing, and administration of non-complex loans, grants, and technical assistance projects. Supporting the integration of ADB's policies and guidelines into project design and implementation.
Knowledge Sharing: Contributing to ADB's advocacy and knowledge-sharing activities, helping to disseminate information and best practices within the organization and to external stakeholders.
Collaboration: Working closely with senior staff and potentially supervising junior team members, fostering a collaborative environment that encourages learning and professional growth.
Reporting: Preparing reports and presentations on project progress, outcomes, and lessons learned, ensuring that stakeholders are informed and engaged in ADB's initiatives.
Required Qualifications: To be considered for the Young Professional position, candidates must possess the following qualifications:
A university degree in a relevant field such as Economics, Finance, Business Administration, Engineering, Environment, Law, Social Sciences, Public Policy, or other areas pertinent to ADB's operations. A post-graduate degree or its equivalent is preferred.
A minimum of 3 years of relevant professional experience in fields such as macro or development economics, climate change, commercial/investment banking, corporate investment, education, energy, environment, financial sector, public health, public-private partnerships, rural development, transport, urban planning, water operations, and agriculture and natural resources. Candidates with a PhD may be considered in lieu of work experience.
International experience related to ADB operations is advantageous.
Candidates must be no more than 32 years old upon joining ADB.
Proficiency in written and verbal English is mandatory, as effective communication is essential in this role.

Additional Notes: The selected candidate will be appointed for an initial term of 3 years, with the possibility of extension for up to 2 additional years, depending on ADB's needs and the candidate's performance. This is a fixed-term appointment, and at the end of the initial period, the appointment may be converted to a regular position or ended based on ADB's assessment of the candidate's suitability for further employment.
