Interns will work under the supervision of the Public Information Officer and will be expected to contribute to various projects that enhance the visibility and outreach of the United Nations Mine Action Service (UNMAS). The internship can be undertaken either remotely or in a hybrid format, allowing for flexibility in work arrangements. Interns will have the chance to develop their skills in a professional environment while contributing to the mission of the United Nations.
Duties and Responsibilities: Interns will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: creating content for social media according to a monthly editorial calendar; updating UNMAS social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Twitter; assisting in the creation of visuals for digital platforms; compiling and analyzing social media analytics reports; editing videos using software like Adobe Premiere or Final Cut Pro; engaging in graphic design and photo editing; monitoring media coverage related to mine action; researching and drafting information for media materials; liaising with public information focal points in UNMAS field programs; preparing background documents, reports, and presentations; organizing events; managing websites; summarizing conferences and meetings; maintaining databases; and performing other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications: Applicants must meet one of the following criteria: be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or be enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). While professional work experience is not required, a field of study closely related to the internship is necessary. Candidates must provide proof of their academic status and may need to submit an official certificate later in the application process. A strong knowledge of video editing software and social media platforms is essential for this role.
Educational Background: Candidates should be pursuing or have completed a degree in a relevant field such as communications, media studies, international relations, or a related discipline. The internship is open to students in their final year of undergraduate studies, as well as those pursuing a Master’s or Ph.D. program. Proof of enrollment or graduation must be provided as part of the application process.
Experience: While no prior professional work experience is required for this internship, candidates should demonstrate relevant academic experience or coursework that aligns with the responsibilities of the position. Additional Notes: This internship is unpaid and can be either full-time (35 hours per week) or part-time (20 hours per week).
