Job Overview:
The primary function of this consultancy position is to develop a project management tool that will facilitate the tracking of projects that are onboarded into the Cities Investment Facility (CIF) pipeline. This role involves integrating the tool into the CIF website, ensuring that it meets the specific needs of the organization. The consultant will be expected to create a digital infrastructure that supports project management, design a user-friendly interface, and prepare comprehensive documentation for the operation and maintenance of the system. Additionally, the consultant will conduct training sessions for internal stakeholders to ensure effective use of the new system, migrate the existing CIF website from a WordPress hosting system, and design an online learning module that will be integrated into the newly migrated website. The consultant will also provide ongoing technical support and conduct a thorough technical audit to identify best practices and any gaps in the project specifications.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant will be responsible for several key duties, including:
  • Developing the digital infrastructure for the CIF project management tool, ensuring it is robust and user-friendly.
  • Creating a custom design that aligns with project specifications and user needs.
  • Preparing detailed documentation and manuals that outline the operation and maintenance of the system for future reference.
  • Conducting training sessions for internal stakeholders to ensure they are proficient in using the new system.
  • Migrating the CIF website from its current WordPress hosting system to a new platform, ensuring a seamless transition.
  • Designing an online learning module that will be integrated into the migrated website to enhance user engagement and training.
  • Providing technical backstopping to address any issues that arise with the website and the project management tool.
  • Conducting an in-depth technical audit of the project specifications to identify best practices and any missing elements, and presenting the findings to the relevant stakeholders.

Required Qualifications:
The position requires a first-level university degree in Software Engineering, Computer Sciences, Information Technology, or related fields. Additionally, candidates must possess a minimum of four years of relevant experience in planning, designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining data and digital solutions as well as software systems. This experience is crucial for ensuring that the consultant can effectively contribute to the development of the project management tool and the migration of the CIF website.

Educational Background:
Candidates must hold at least a first-level university degree in a relevant field such as Software Engineering, Computer Sciences, or Information Technology. This educational background is essential to ensure that the consultant has the necessary theoretical knowledge and practical skills to perform the tasks required in this consultancy role.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of four years of relevant experience in the field. This experience should encompass planning, design, development, implementation, and maintenance of data and digital solutions, as well as software systems. Candidates should have a proven track record of successfully managing similar projects and delivering results within set timelines.

Languages:
Fluency in English is required, both oral and written, as it is one of the working languages of the UN Secretariat. Knowledge of French is also beneficial, as it is another working language of the UN, and may enhance communication with a broader range of stakeholders.
